We are expecting our second boy in May. We already have a henry which was our most favourite boys name and now we can't seem to come to an agreement on this one!
My dh loves Dexter I like it but don't love it like I did with henry.
I really really like Alfie.
So dear mumsnetters can you help us decide Dexter or Alfie???

I prefer Alfie (maybe Alfred on the birth certificate, goes well with Henry, and gives him plenty of options for cute nicknames: Fred, Freddie, Al, Alf, Alfie, )... Dexter is okay too, but I don't love it....

BlueChampagne · 01/02/2015 22:10

Alfred, NN Alfie, would get my vote

DramaAlpaca · 01/02/2015 22:11

Another vote for Alfred, nn Alfie.

Looseleaf · 01/02/2015 22:12

Alfie here too

MairzyDoats · 01/02/2015 22:21

Dexter doesn't work with Henry at all. Alfie much better.

Sophronia · 01/02/2015 23:04

Alfred nn Alfie.

Romeyroo · 01/02/2015 23:05

Another one for Alfie with a Henry already

OutragedFromLeeds · 01/02/2015 23:08

Definitely Alfie

(Unless you're having a puppy in which case Dexter is fine).

Ludways · 01/02/2015 23:10

Dexter doesn't sound well with Henry, they're too different iyswim.

I prefer Alfie but know quite a few, if that'd bother you then what about Archie or Arthur (seems to be coming back)

Smileysar1 · 02/02/2015 09:17

Thank you everyone just as I thought!!!
He's now considering Toby and Edward too... We like Dexter but I can see it doesn't quite go with henry Smile

I think Toby and Edward are lovely names. Edward is very flexible if you want to shorten it for everyday use. I would go for these ahead of Dexter or Alfie. Alfie is everywhere at the moment!

afreshstartplease · 02/02/2015 16:28

I'd go for Toby or Edward (who i would nn teddy)

CPtart · 02/02/2015 16:36

Edward
Toby
Both lovely classic names that go with Henry

Yikes, Alfie or Dexter I really couldn't choose, and not for a good reason.

BlueStarsAtNight · 02/02/2015 17:37

Definitely either Henry and Edward or Henry and Toby. I think I prefer Edward.

D0nnaO · 02/02/2015 18:50

Alfie Smile

jimmycrackcornbutidontcare · 02/02/2015 18:52

I don't like Toby, Dexter or Alfie.

Edward is lovely.

Qwebec · 03/02/2015 21:07

Edward or Albert

Dexter makes me think of the psychotic killer

Mummify · 03/02/2015 21:09

Edward

Vijac · 03/02/2015 21:10

I prefer Alfie and it goes much better with Henry too.

Vijac · 03/02/2015 21:13

Ooh seen the extra names. In order I like Toby, Edward, Alfie, Dexter. Though I would be tempted to use tobias nn Toby. Nn for Edward would be Teddy for me, so cute! At least while pre school that is!

Smileysar1 · 04/02/2015 13:13

Thanks everyone!! It's just so hard. I realise Alfie is everywhere at the moment so think Edward or Toby (everyone I've mentioned Dexter to has said about the serial killer!!!) lol.
