Initally my husband and I were set on Archer Grey but, having realised just how many Archies there are milling about in nurseries around the country, we've decided to go back to the drawing board. And that's where you're help would really come in useful.....

Which do you prefer - middle name dilemmas plus surname included!

Jasper Grey Davey
Jasper Arlo Davey
Jasper Otis Davey

Otis Fox Davey
Otis Grey Davey

Franklin Grey Davey

Thank you for your help.... I think we've ditched Franklin now, mainly because my husband is unconvinced by the name, but also because there's a horrible danger our son could end up being called Frank (and that's not even getting into that 'talk to Frank' drugs charity strapline - an absolute goldmine for comedy and quips at my son's expense :p ).

So the real two we are umming and erring between are JASPER GREY or OTIS FOX.

We're not deterred by the Otis as an aardvark stuff given we ourselves were too old to be watching Otis on kid's TV in the late 90s and our kid and his peers will be too young to know what the hell that's all about anyway. Neither do we have much interest either way in Bryan Ferry's offspring or their choice of leisurely pursuits either. In favour of Otis, it's got more potential for cute nicknames (Oatie or Oats sounds cooler to me than Jazz for a boy, while Jasp seems a bit of an awkward word to get one's mouth around), but then some people just think of Lift manufacturers when they hear the name.... and will I go off a name that begins with 'O'?!

Naming another human is such a huge responsibility, isn't it?!

No. Neither Oatie nor Oats are cool nicknames.

Jasper with any combo would be my favorite, I think. Lovely names. :)

Jasper Arlo Greyson Davey

Thats my pick. Good luck. Its so difficult picking the absolute correct name. I had my ds´s name picked out and changed it as soon as I saw him ExH was shocked but wisely said nothing.Grin

I love both! Dd1 would have been a Jasper and dd2 would have been an Otis!

So Otis Jasper Davey gets my vote Grin

Oatie may be a sweet nn for a baby, but teenage boys could be quite frightful about a pal with nn Oats...

I like Jasper a lot, but am afraid Otis does make me think of lifts.

I love the sound of Otis Fox. Otis doesn't have to be shortened. My dh has a name that isn't easily shortened and nobody tries.

Wow what a coincidence, I have an Otis Fox! He's 20mo and is a total dude. Haven't had any comments about the aardvark at all, had more raised eyebrows at his middle name but we don't care as we LOVE it. Great name choice.
