So DD3 and we're really really struggling for names! Options are:
Raphaela (?) Surname,
Zelda (dh choice) ? Surname
Valentina Ray (my current favourite, love shortening to Nina, Lenny and even Tina could grow on me).

Thoughts? Surname is Portuguese, two syllables...along the lines of Silva, Souza etc. but not those otherwise I could out myself!

I would go with Valentina Rafaella.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 28/01/2015 21:55

If your surname has two syllables and ends in a then I don't think the middle name can end in a if the first name is

makes me think of someone doing a bad italian accent 'shut uppa your face-a' style

Quiero · 28/01/2015 22:01

What about Valentina May?

Zsazsabinks · 28/01/2015 22:03

I just want to tell you my surname but I know that would be a bit much given that i've posted up my children's full names! It's not an a as is 'ay' but 'a', so it rhymes with Wire.

Yeah, bad Italian accent covers it! :D

so the same a as in valentina?

i don't think ray goes with the two names but as it is a middle name it won't be used much

Your children have beautiful names. I love Valentina. I have a ds named Raphael (nn Raffi) but I would definitely go with Valentina.

Zsazsabinks · 28/01/2015 22:33

Me liking Raphael was how we got to Raphaela, I just don't think I really love it as a girls name. If I had a boy it would be up there as a boy option though!

Thank you.

I like Valentina.

I don't like Zelda, if I'm honest I think of of Zelda from the Terrahawks.

coley170 · 29/01/2015 11:38

Valentina is beautiful

ch1134 · 30/01/2015 22:58

Valentina Ray. What a cool name! Also love Raphaela.
Dislike z names.

ch1134 · 30/01/2015 23:00

Though shortenings would be Val or Tina I'd have thought. Both lovely.

GettingFiggyWithIt · 30/01/2015 23:06

Valentina is just beautiful. I wanted a February dd just for that alone.
Not keen on Rae.
Raffi is a nice nn

Valentina Raphaela is what I would call herFlowers

GettingFiggyWithIt · 30/01/2015 23:09

Ooh unless you are thinking of trying for another at a later date...in which case Valentina Alice and save Raphael/Raphaela for the next one!Wink

heylilbunny · 12/03/2015 22:11

We have a Raphaela age 14. We chose her middle name before her first name it also begins with R and is a beautiful flower.

SylvaniansAtEase · 13/03/2015 19:14

All names good, but Ray/Rae makes them all utterly naff- don't do it!

It makes it sound as if it's hyphenated - just no. Really detracts.

Valentina Zelide

Zelda Valentina

Rae is not a name in itself; in Scotland it's often a nickname for Mary or Maria. But you already have a child with that as a middle name. Do you want to duplicate it? In other places, Rae is a short form of Rachel, which is IMHO much nicer.

Agree with earlier posters that Valentina nn Nina is lovely. And seasonal.

Am personally not keen on Rafaella as a name, but as a middle name, it's OK. And to many, many people it will be great. Valentina Rachel also very nice.

YouGrateMyCheese · 13/03/2015 20:50

Not only is Robin Williams's daughter named Zelda, as several posters have already mentioned, but her middle name is Rae! (I can see why you like the Ray spelling, though.) There is a super adorable video on youtube of Zelda with her dad, talking about how she got her name. She said that, while she did get teased for it as a child, not a day goes by now when someone doesn't tell her what a cool name she has. Robin said it was a "magical name for a magical girl," or something like that. It was very sweet.

Oh and random, but the creator of Legend of Zelda named the character after Zelda Fitzgerald. He said the name struck him as "pleasant and significant." I can actually see Zelda Williams rising the name's profile: she's well-spoken, funny, gorgeous, etc. Go for it!
