Your surname was very similar to Moon? Think one similar sounding letter out?

Or can you think of other astral names?

I like Astrid but I don't love it like Luna.

We can't use a name beginning with C.

(I know I'm here a lot recently, I'm struggling to name this baby and I want her to have a name when she's born!)

So long as your surname isn't Tick!! sorry :)

I actually quite like that name and the moon is my first thought.

Astrid is a bit hippy dippy for me, but thats because my hippy dippy neighbough has a dd called astrid. Also its not pretty sounding like Luna.

I think it matters how it sounds together so Luna Moon? yeah, sounds good when you say it out loud. Does your surname sound like moon, or have an association?

Lucy of course, is the patron saint of light.......... Wink

lemisscared · 15/01/2015 11:03

neighbough? i can't even blame auto correct Shock

PacificDogwood · 15/01/2015 11:03

I wouldn't, I don't think.
Stella?
Estella?
Venus?
Star?
Selena? (derived from the Greek for 'moon')

CaulkheadUpNorth · 15/01/2015 11:05

Have you posted this before? Or am I having a weird de ja vu?

Titsalinabumsquash · 15/01/2015 11:06

Our surname is Munn outs self hence not being able to use a C name lol.

It's not an issue where we live because we're in the south and everyone speaks like the Queen Wink

I have posted a variety of name threads, one has mentioned this in somewhere along it, originally we said we wouldn't go for it but I can't find anything else i really love.

Lyra is a constellation.

lemisscared · 15/01/2015 11:11

If i met a girl called Luna, my assumption would be (totally unfounded of course) that she goes to a steiner school, is very spiritual but not religious and is kind to animals. She would be pretty in a very delicate feminine way and probably favour loose flowing clothes as a teenager. No grunge for Luna :) but no street threads either :) She would read alot and be a bit of day dreamer.

All good :)

I think your surname sounds quite masculine and practical so Luna offsets it. Go for it

nilbyname · 15/01/2015 11:12

It doesn't flow well, and I love the name Luna it's my dds name.

What about

Atalune- Luna is the nick name
Seren
Love Astrid!
I know a Lyra, it's a great name
Leisle
Lisette

lemisscared · 15/01/2015 11:12

I misread Lyra for lycra Blush

Titsalinabumsquash · 15/01/2015 11:15

If it makes a difference the middle names will be Barbara Jayne, this is the only thing we're sure of because they're honouring parents/grandparent.

I know it's a mouthful but all our children have 2 long middle names and a short first name.

OP posts:
lemisscared · 15/01/2015 11:15

I REALLY like Atalune! Seren is nice too (short for serendipity? i always have a connection to neighbours for that though)

I have a Lucy and i often call her Lulu, also heard people calling her Luce Hmm

The natural shortening for luna, might be loon? not brilliant.

lemisscared · 15/01/2015 11:18

It does make a difference, those are very traditional names Barbara and Jayne. Luna would sound completely wrong with those, arggghhh. See, i think you are going to have to call her Lucy! Patron saint of light, light comes from the sun, doesn't get more Astral than that!

Did i mention i really like that name!

Also, named after Lucy Pevensy - wasn't the chronicals of narnia some sort of allegory for astral/spiritual things?

Yep - tis Lucy :)

Sadly, my evil EXMIL is called Lucy, although I do like that name it doesn't create great memories for me.

I think I'll have to call her baby for ever. Grin

HelloItsStillMeFell · 15/01/2015 11:25

I agree with lem Grin

Luna is beautiful by the way.

RiverTam · 15/01/2015 11:28

I think Luna Munn isn't bad, but here's some other suggestions. I really like Astrid, btw.

Artemis – Greek moon goddess.
Celeste – French feminine form of Caelestis Latin for “of the sky, heavenly”.
Diana – Roman moon goddess.
Eloise – Sometimes associated with the Greek word helios meaning “sun”.
Estelle – Old French name derived from Stella (see below).
Larissa – One of Neptune’s moons.
Lyra – A constellation.
Selene – Greek for moon.
Skye – A variant of Sky.
Stella – Latin for star.
Phoebe – One of Saturn’s moons and Latinized form of the Greek Phoibe a Titan from Greek mythology associated with the moon.
Tara – Sanskrit for star and the name of a Hindu astral goddess.

MindReader · 15/01/2015 11:28

Lyra and Stella are both lovely.

How nice, to be naming babies

GloopMonster · 15/01/2015 11:29

Astra (another version of Astrid)
Stella
Esther (means 'star' in Persian)
Tara (means 'star' in Sanskrit). Don't think it really goes with the middle names, though.

Titsalinabumsquash · 15/01/2015 11:43

My search for astral names has thrown up Faye, I really love it. I wonder if it sounds ok with the other names?

OP posts:
TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 15/01/2015 11:49

Luna is lovely but Luna Munn I'm not sure about, sorry. The only Luna I have ever met is a Weimaraner dog so I kind of put it in the Oscar school of names that are frequently bestowed on pedigree dogs.

Just as a small aside as I know someone with the initial BJM. Barbara Jayne is BJ or blowjob. Boys/Men think its hilarious when they pick up on this. It's the tedious joke with no end. She hates it. I'd reverse the order of the two names while you have the chance if you can or save one for a second daughter.

Lyra is very pretty but you don't sound sold on Moon related names, you just like Luna as far as I can work out. The initials LBJM [ Long/Large Blow Job...... etc etc.] will cause similar issues

Sorry - I haven't been helpful at all. Sad

What other names have you liked? I'd personally like a longer name with a nice short nickname [since you prefer a shorter sound] something like Alexandra/Alexa with your surname. Or Elisabeth/Beth or similar.

pregnantpause · 15/01/2015 11:49

Seren is star in welsh. Very very very popular in Wales ATM- I have two in the family and there are 12 in my daughters small school. Doesn't change that it's a nice name but some people dislike popularity.

I think Luna Is lovely

Titsalinabumsquash · 15/01/2015 11:56

DP doesn't like Jayne as first middle name but it was my late mothers name so I can't not have it, I envisage people not using middle names enough for it to matter about the BJ thing.

I'm not sold on Seren.

I quite like Thea.

OP posts:
Yay4may · 15/01/2015 12:06

I am sorry I really dislike Luna with your last name. Thea is much better.

MrsLettuce · 15/01/2015 12:10

There's a girl in DD's class who I often call Luna by mistake, she's actually called Nova.
