Due in 8 weeks. It's a surprise so am thinking about both girls and boys names.
Short list for girls - but have absolutely NO idea for boys!! I want to hear something different that I've never heard before, but I've seen them all.
Do you know any unusual names for boys you could inspire me with? Thanks.

Well there's unusual like Fergus and then there's unusual like Zowie. Which end of unusual do you like? What names do you like but can't use?

StellaLuna82 · 14/01/2015 17:39

I wouldn't use Zowie but that end definitely. I know a Fergus. As a big of a hippy I'd be more than up for some nature name ideas. Thanks.

I'm due in April with a surprise and I REALLY REALLY wanted to call a boy Atlas. DP loved it until he (against my forewarning) told people that's what we were thinking and let his mates ruin the name for him with their opinions on it.

Anyways, Atlas is awesome, as it Caesar :-D

marshmallowpies · 14/01/2015 18:15

I know an Atlas - it is a cool name.

If I was having a boy Fergus would def be on my list, but I think DH would veto it (for our first baby, who was luckily a DD, his suggestion was 'Stephen'!!!!).

I really like Scottish boys names like Dougal and Douglas, though those aren't very far out there, I think of them as quite similar to Fergus.

Eden is great, I love the connotations.

Or Torin?

squoosh · 15/01/2015 20:37

Zephyr is nature related and pretty unusual!

carbolicsoaprocked · 15/01/2015 20:55

Cosmo? The wee girl from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang grew up to be a bit of a hippy and that's what her son's called. full of useless info

d0nkeyk0ng · 15/01/2015 21:04

So, just my opinion but Stephen is the best of any of those names. Zowie Bowie changed his name to Duncan Jones for a good reason. Stephen is not popular these days so that, for me, would be a positive xx
Astrid is nice too xx

d0nkeyk0ng · 15/01/2015 21:09

Oh, and Stephen is an international name, Esteban, istvan, Stefan etc... I would like that. Maybe just me.

squoosh · 15/01/2015 21:09

I wasn't suggesting Zowie as an actual name, just seeing how 'unusual' the OP was aiming for.
