What do people think of Ava-Rose as the first name? Middle name will be Damaris.

Do you need the Rose? Do you think you will always say the full name?

I don't really understand hyphenated names otherwise. They seem a bit cumbersome to me.

Ava is nice though - is Damaris a family name? I don't think I've heard it before.

rdr15 · 13/01/2015 17:22

Hi was thinking of Ava-Rose as I love Ava and dh loves Rose. Damaris is a family name goes back 5 generations so it's something I want to pass on to my lo

Damaris is a great name. Ava is ok, rose is boring, and hyphenating is a poor way of reaching a Compromise. I would go with a name you both really like instead of lumping 2 names you each love together. Remember you might revisit the short list if there is a next time.

Like it.

Pretty and strong.

Rhubarbgarden · 13/01/2015 18:00

I love Damaris. Much nicer than Ava-Rose.

florascotia · 13/01/2015 18:07

Agree with Rhubarb and others. Ava and Rose are both very popular; Damaris is more interesting and less usual. Also nice that it's family name.

WesH · 13/01/2015 18:23

There's nothing wrong with Ava-Rose as a name imo. If you like it you should go for it

Lunastarfish · 13/01/2015 18:25

What about Ava Damaris Rose instead?

BlueStarsAtNight · 13/01/2015 18:31

I know an Ava-Rose, I don't generally like hyphenated names at all, but that's one of the nicer ones IMO.

Deerhound · 13/01/2015 19:03

I'm not usually a big fan of hyphenated names either but I think Ava-Rose sounds lovely. Both are simple classic names so it doesn't sound "too much" iyswim.

Personally I would go for Ava Rose Damaris Surname (without the hyphen) but still call her Ava Rose. (My Dp has two first names, no hyphen so to me it sounds p

burgatroyd · 13/01/2015 19:06

I LOVE Damaris.

GlitzAndGigglesx · 13/01/2015 19:09

Ava-Rose looks pretty written down but I think they sound best as single names. Damaris Ava Rose would be nice

Benchmark · 13/01/2015 19:25

Ava-Rose is lovely!

Deerhound · 13/01/2015 20:08

Sorry - phone failure

Perfectly normal)

Ava-Rose is good too though.

Nolim · 13/01/2015 20:10

Ava-rose adamaris is too much imho.

manicinsomniac · 13/01/2015 20:11

I really like Ava-Rose and I really like Damaris.

But I'm not sure about Ava-Rose Damaris.

I would either go with Ava Damaris Rose or Damaris Ava-Rose

FunkyPeacock · 13/01/2015 20:13

I'm not usually a fan of hyphenated names but I like Ava-Rose

I can't see a problem with using it with your chosen middle name

ocelot41 · 13/01/2015 20:14

Sorry, not my cup of tea. Too fussy. Ava is fine, Rose is fine, Damaris is interesting and unusual. All three? Too much.

Sophronia · 15/01/2015 11:51

I'm not keen on hyphenated names so I would prefer Ava Rose Damaris or just Ava Damaris or Rose Damaris.

squoosh · 15/01/2015 11:57

I know two little girls called Ava-Rose. It must be one of the most popular hyphenated names.

Damaris is SO much cooler.

squoosh · 15/01/2015 11:58

I know an Ava-Jane as well. So there must be a lot of Ava-Somethings around.

Zsazsabinks · 15/01/2015 12:33

Damaris is an amazing name! I'd have Damaris Rose. Ava is pretty but I know quite a few between the ages of 0-6. Go Damaris!
