Already have a poppy and a violet.

I don't like rose or iris and I'm not specially keen on daisy.

I must be having a brain freeze as am struggling to think of suitable floral names! Any thoughts?

One was Hyacinth (?sp)

squoosh · 10/01/2015 20:59

Rose was the nympho.

squoosh · 10/01/2015 20:59

Was Violet the one with acres and room for a pony?

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 10/01/2015 21:05

I've been watching KUP today as it happens Grin.

The sisters were;

Hyacinth (Boo-kayyyy)
Daisy (wife of Onslow)
Rose (nympho & also now plays Edna on Emmerdale)
Violet (married to the Turf Accountant, sauna, swimming pool & room for a pony. And a new Mercedes.)

rockinrobintweet · 10/01/2015 21:05

i know an 'Orchid' and she is simply stunning and suits it (am bias thoWink)

it's very different, but not quite as radical as Honeysuckle. her dad has called her 'Orch' once, but otherwise no nn.

i second Lilac as somebody prev said. think it's pretty. i have a Roselyn and we call her Rose but only used it for personal reasons (like you, the name didn't do it for me before my dd2)

before i had my Scarlett (dd1) i genuinely considered 'Berry'. not a flower as such but slightly fits criteria?

sorry if these aren't helpful- was trying to think of more suggestions.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 10/01/2015 21:10

Getting back to the thread topic however....

I have a Poppy and love flower names. If I were ever to have another DD (unlikely) she would be one of;

Lily
Iris
Ivy
Holly
Willow

squoosh · 10/01/2015 21:11

Oh yes, Lilac is gorgeous.

newrecruit · 10/01/2015 21:12

I'm not sure I could name my children after any of the rabbits in Watership Down.

I'm against mixing children and pets.

I prefer leaves to flowers, especially as you have two flowers already. I'd be inclined towards Willow, Laurel, Rowan. What about Robyn (I realise not a flower)

Clementine is also lovely.

Pansy - just no.

newrecruit · 10/01/2015 21:14

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Watership_Down_characters

Fuck me that pretty much discounts the whole list Shock

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 10/01/2015 22:10

Sorrel
Hazel
Heather
Rowan
Tansy
Iris

I know you've said no to Rose, Daisy and Lily, otherwise I'd have had them on the list. I love flower names.

shakemysilliesout · 10/01/2015 22:10

What about April? Kinda spring like.

Clueing4looks · 10/01/2015 22:23

Could have a shortened version of a flower/plant like

Sunnie (sunflower)
Heidi (hydrangea)
Rhoda (rhododendron)
Lina/Lena (Linnaea)
Maggie (magnolia)
Cassie (cassia)
Vera (aloe Vera)

heygoldfish · 10/01/2015 22:47

I love April but it doesn't quite keep (in my mind!) with flowers - gorgeous fresh name though.

Watership down is one of my favourite books Grin

Hebe is beautiful and definitely unusual .

heygoldfish · 10/01/2015 22:57

I think perhaps too unusual - have to admit I hadn't heard of it until just now and hadn't a clue it was a flower!

I was 'blessed' with an unusual name myself so am trying to strike a balance between not another lily or Evie and not a name as barmy as mine that no one can spell or pronounce!

Yes I'd stick to names that are well known as flowers. Posy lovely. Petal nice too. Holly fabulous.

Ivy is my third fav!!

harryhausen · 10/01/2015 23:29

Marigold? (Pet name Mari)

Marguriette? (A form of Daisy)

Camellia? - one my favourite flowersSmile

I love Honeysuckle and Clover out of the ones that have been mentioned. Willow is nice too, but I think I'd go with a flower.

Xmasmarket · 11/01/2015 00:06

I don't think it's your style but I think Mabel as in May Bell as in Lily of the Valley is sweet. Such a beautiful flower too.

longestlurkerever · 11/01/2015 00:57
