Margot Elizabeth
Cecily Bea (to be known as Cece)
Romilly (NN Romy) don't have a middle name for this one yet so suggestions please!

All votes appreciated!

DH loves Cece but not massively keen on Cecily so kind of only wants to go with it if we really do always call her Cece. I'm just completely torn. I change my mind every five minutes!

All lovely, but Romilly is my favourite.

Romilly Cate.

sooperdooper · 30/12/2014 20:56

Margot is lovely :)

I honestly don't see the point of giving her a name you never plan to use

Romilly, by a mile.

Allalonenow · 30/12/2014 21:01

Romilly Elizabeth would be my favourite.
I also like Cecily very much, and would think it a shame if she was always called Cece.
I'm not keen on Margot or Bea.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 30/12/2014 21:02

Cecily = lovely. Don't like Margot or Romilly. Bea is sweet as mn too.

BrightestAndBest · 30/12/2014 21:05

Margot Elizabeth is absolutely stunning - I'd go for this...

Not keen on Cecily, but do quite like Cece. Could Celia or Cecilia be an option for the longer version?

SirChenjin · 30/12/2014 21:07

Love love love Cecily and Romilly Smile.

Not keen at all on Margot - it was a very popular name for women 50-60 years ago, like Maureen and Wendy, and not due a comeback imo

Ikeameatballs · 30/12/2014 21:09

I like them all .

Romilly Jean
Romilly Una

jimmycrackcornbutidontcare · 30/12/2014 21:11

I only like Margot.

I don't like Romilly.

StampyShortnose · 30/12/2014 21:29

Wait till baby arrives and see which of the 3 names suit her best!

VioletVelvet · 30/12/2014 21:42

I love Romilly!

Not really keen on the others.

PrincessOfChina · 30/12/2014 21:45

A biased lover of Romilly here. Ours has Edith as a middle name.

I do like your other choices too.

myotherusernameisbetter · 30/12/2014 21:48

Could you go for something like Catherine Celeste = CC = Cece?

Bowlersarm · 30/12/2014 21:48

I love Romilly.

Cece is sweet; what about having it short for Francesca if you don't like Cecily.

I'm not keen on Margot.

sherbetpips · 30/12/2014 21:52

Wait till she arrives and see which one she is, worked for us, although turned out to be a boy!

loislines · 30/12/2014 22:06

Not a fan of romilly. Margot is lovely. Cecily is lovely too - Cecile, Celia, Cecelia, Catherine all alternatives for Cece.

Only1scoop · 30/12/2014 22:10

Cecily I don't like at all

Margot is a great name.

Deerhound · 30/12/2014 22:27

I like them all and agree with sherbet that you should wait till she's been and see what suits her.

Having said that, if you or your Dh really don't like Cecily then I wouldn't use it - you won't be able to force everyone to call her Cece

BrambleBee · 30/12/2014 22:38

Margot Elizabeth is lovely. I'd love to use that name but DH has ruled it out Sad

Not very keen on Romilly, Cecily is quite nice.

Artandco · 30/12/2014 22:43

Margin Elizabeth definitely.

Had ds's been female one would have been called Margot Estelle

Deerhound · 30/12/2014 22:44

Cecily Bea is a bit like Cecil Beaton (not that it's a bad thing, just an observation)

EmilyGilmore · 31/12/2014 09:17

The thing that puts me off Cecily is if the child has a lisp...

picklesandfrittles · 31/12/2014 10:23

Thanks so much everyone for your thoughts. It seems from the responses that Romilly and Margot are the frontrunners. I really take the point about calling her something that we don't actually intend to use so, for that reason, I think Cecily is becoming more unlikely. Any further thoughts on Romilly middle names? It feels like it should just be one syllable?

I really like Cecily as a name, but how would you pronounce CeCe? As SeeSee? SehSee? CheChe? CheSee? Or as Sissy, the traditional nn for Cecily? Very probably, some people will use Sissy, whatever you say. As earlier posters have said you can't compel nicknames.

I would also worry that CeCe, however pronounced, might seem sweet for a baby but rather twee for an adult.

I also like Celia and Cecilia, as suggested by earlier poster, and the Dutch/Danish nn for them, Silke (Zeel-kuh), which is sometimes used as a name in its own right.

Margot is a nice name; am not keen on place names as personal names, therefore don't like Romilly.
