I love, but many do not...

I am really sorry, am in the do not camp. But some people don't like the name we chose for our DC - you just have to pick what is right for you...

OftheTwilighttheDarkness · 23/12/2014 17:27

I like it as a nn, how about Jackson - Sonny for short.

ellenjames · 23/12/2014 17:33

It is dc2's middle name as dh wanted it but I really didn't like it for a first name

Bowlersarm · 23/12/2014 17:34

I don't like it sorry, it sounds more like a noise than a name.

Andcake · 23/12/2014 17:37

I think it's ok- but ( and I hate the deciding on nn before birth thing) but it's one of those names that if you use anything else you can later try it out as a nn

ralinax294 · 23/12/2014 18:27

I love Sonny!

MehsMum · 23/12/2014 18:37

Sounds like a nickname: I'm in the NO camp.

marne2 · 23/12/2014 18:42

I love it.

CaulkheadUpNorth · 23/12/2014 18:44

No.

lolalotta · 23/12/2014 18:45

How is it pronounced?

No. Sounds like something that an old man would call a young chap- like Laddy.

CecyHall · 23/12/2014 18:55

If I didn't have to consider DH's feelings then DS1 would have been Sonny. If I'd have chosen it is probably still like it but I'm much less keen now.

financialwizard · 23/12/2014 18:59

My cousin is Salvatore. His nn is Sonny (don't know why because I'd have thought it would have been Sally).

thoughtsbecomethings · 23/12/2014 19:04

Lovely name for a boy Grin

Crownjewel · 23/12/2014 19:10

Personally I wouldn't choose it for my DC but I do know a little Sonny, who suits his name down to the ground - a lovely, cheerful, sunny little chap! OP, if you like it, who gives a monkeys whether anyone else does or doesn't? He's your DC, not theirs - I say go for it.

soundedbetterinmyhead · 23/12/2014 19:15

Nope - I wouldn't. Cute until he hits adolescence then he'll probably hate it. I suppose you could always give him the middle name Jim, then he could use that when he got past 11. But, just my opinion.

bubalou · 23/12/2014 19:22

I would have said no ... however

Ds's friend at school has a little brother called Sonny. It's really cute and suits him well.

I don't go 'Eugh' when I say it like some of the kids names.

(Will not say them because parents with children of said names might take offence)

Wink
ohmychrist · 23/12/2014 19:22

Absolutely awful. Cringeworthy.

PandaNot · 23/12/2014 19:23

I quite like it but it's my cat's name!

WheresMeJumperOhNo · 23/12/2014 19:24

How about Samson, Sonny for short? Gives him the option to use Sam, also.

LizzieVereker · 23/12/2014 19:28

I've taught several Sonnys - all delightful, without exception. It's a great name.

TheOriginalWinkly · 23/12/2014 19:29

It makes me think of this song. That makes it a big no for me.

shakemysilliesout · 23/12/2014 19:44

No, don't like. In the same box as buddy, teddy... Next it will be Sport.
