Just heard of a baby called this. Not a name I've heard in years and wonder if it's due a revival? I think it's pretty and not as 'mumsy' as Joyce.

I know a little girl called Joy. Such a snappy and positive name.

squoosh · 09/12/2014 12:33

Joyce is hideous x 10 though.

loislines · 09/12/2014 12:37

Joy is a beautiful name.

DishwasherDogs · 09/12/2014 12:39

Love the name Joy. It was top of my list for dc4, but he was a boy!

shakemysilliesout · 09/12/2014 12:59

Top of my list but dc2 was a boy. Also it sounds awful with our surname. Surname starts with a vowel and is 2 syllables- joy kind of melded in to it, not in a good way.

Joy is a fab name.
My nan is Joyce so I always thought Joy would be cool as a MN
The only Joy I have met was a Filipina girl.

moxon · 09/12/2014 15:03

I've met lots of Joy's. Great name!

Pipbin · 09/12/2014 15:09

I know a baby Joy. She was named after her grandmother who she didn't meet and because her mother lost a baby at 22 weeks.

Tambajam · 09/12/2014 15:15

My friend was named Joy but changed her name at university. She was tired of constantly being told to 'cheer up' and be jolly. She is quite a quiet person and hated the first day of any new job particularly.

Edgarallan · 09/12/2014 22:01

Great name classic but unusual! Do it!

DramaAlpaca · 09/12/2014 23:04

I'm not keen personally, but it's much better than Joyce.

Cocolate · 09/12/2014 23:12

Love it! The prettiest girl in my school was called Joy and I recently met a baby Joy and thought: how appropriate (for all the joy she will bring her parents).

Crownjewel · 09/12/2014 23:15

Love it ?? was going to be DS name, had he been a DD...

TheNewStatesman · 09/12/2014 23:16

I think it's very nice. Unusual but not weird. I know a Joy and have never heard any comments about "Cheer up!" or anything like that.

Stella29 · 09/12/2014 23:19
