I like it, but (sorry) Primrose Shipman immediately springs to mind

skyra13 · 28/11/2014 18:18

sounds granny-like to me sorry

Lunastarfish · 28/11/2014 18:19

I was thinking of the grumpy one in Darling Buds of May

SnowSpot · 28/11/2014 18:22

Hunger Games all the way. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Your call on that one.

It's cute for a baby or a granny. Otherwise it would be filed under my 'can I imagine that name on a high court judge - probably not' file.

CaptainAnkles · 28/11/2014 18:23

My mind went straight to Darling Buds as well

Hassled · 28/11/2014 18:26

I love it. Really pretty.

bouncingbelle · 28/11/2014 18:28

I really really loathe it. It's prissy and I seriously can't imagine any teenage girl (or woman) liking being called it.

jazzyjenbo · 28/11/2014 18:29

I know a 2.5 yr old with this name and i love it... She gets called prim, I didnt make the shipman, may or games connection..(never seen the 2 tv shows).... I hav this name on my list if i have a girl (due in may) .. I like nature names and have posy, blossom and marigold on my list aswell.

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 28/11/2014 18:30

I don't like it at all. Hate the sound of 'Prim'. Just makes me think of 'prim and proper'.

scarletforya · 28/11/2014 18:33

Love it, very pretty.

EdinLS · 28/11/2014 18:38

My brain can't stop putting 'Hill' on the end. I've never even been to Primrose Hill so I'm not sure why!

I think its a bit fussy to be honest - can only imagine it on a smarmy suck-upy person! I definitely wouldn't want to be friends with the Primrose I'm envisaging.

moxon · 28/11/2014 18:52

I also think of primrose hill. And I've only been there once. Hmm

MyDogSnoopy · 28/11/2014 20:18

Don't like it. Sounds twee, a little silly and I also imagine a stuck up person. Prim is an awful nn, if you must then Rose would be better.

squoosh · 28/11/2014 20:20

I imagine Primrose to look like Anne Widdecombe and to have a penchant for wearing 1980's style Laura Ashley frocks.

mymummademelistentoshitmusic · 28/11/2014 20:20

It's a cows name. The younger sister of clarabell.
Hideous name but a lovely flower.

burgatroyd · 28/11/2014 20:54

Posy is a good nn

DramaAlpaca · 28/11/2014 23:07

Awful name, sorry.

looki · 29/11/2014 01:06

I'd expect to see a bell around her neck. Its a cow's name to me.

looki · 29/11/2014 01:08

ps I certainly wouldn't associate it with 'posh'. Quite the opposite to be honest.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 29/11/2014 01:15

It reminds me of Brambly Hedge Smile

TheNewStatesman · 29/11/2014 08:34

It's frightful, sorry.

How about Rosemary or Priscilla?

EEvans · 29/11/2014 08:49

Skyra13! If you like it that's what matters! "Older" names do seen to be making a come back at the mo and I think they are often a bit marmitey! People either really love or really loathe them!

I think Primrose is lovely, and I agree the nicknames are super cute.

I think the only thing to maybe consider is with the growing popularity of The Hunger Games you might find there are a lot of little "Primroses" when she gets to nursery/school and you'll have to think about whether you mind if it is going to become a more common name than you perhaps had thought.

OneStepCloser · 29/11/2014 08:56

Love it.

GreatAuntDinah · 29/11/2014 09:30

Bloody awful, sorry. Frumpy as all get-out.
