I really like the name Tilly not Matilda but I'm worried it's too similar to my daughters name Mollie ?

I dont think they are similar names, but i dont think they flow together either.

WowserBowser · 21/11/2014 09:42

I wouldn't have 2 ie ending (or sounding) names

furcoatbigknickers · 21/11/2014 09:47

Two of my dds have ee names and its very confusing when im shouting them. Also people get their nsmes mixed up all the time. Btw they are very similar to your names.

doodlewitch · 21/11/2014 09:49

Yes. Tilly, Molly, and all the other similar sounding names very popular at the moment - Ellie, Milly, Lily, Holly and ifuriating to remember who is who in large groups as they all sound alike

Aimielea · 21/11/2014 10:00

Unfortunately the only names we like are
Rosie
Eadie/ Edie
Lottie
Tilly

So we will probs have two ie ending names. I struggle to get my husband to find any names he likes if it was my choice I could think of loads.

I would spell it Tilly rather than Tillie if you chose it. I think it's not so much the ee sound at end but the double L and the ee in both names.

It think Mollie and Rosie sound lovely from your list. Not keen on Lottie as to many L and ee sounds again and Eadie is not as pretty as Rosie.

squoosh · 21/11/2014 11:39

Yes they sound far too alike.

squoosh · 21/11/2014 11:41

Rosie and Mollie - sounds okay if a bit twee
Edie and Mollie - sound great together, best combo by far
Lottie and Mollie - this works
Tilly and Mollie - far too similar

Aimielea · 21/11/2014 12:33

Definitely think Tilly is off my list now :)

Rosie or Edie go best with Mollie.

Chatty987 · 21/11/2014 16:00

Some other suggestions...
Mollie & Rose
Mollie & Katy
Mollie & Amy/Aimee

Aimielea · 21/11/2014 16:16

ralinax294 · 22/11/2014 17:46

I know sisters Molly and Tilly and think it's fine.

childrensservant · 22/11/2014 21:12

We liked Tilly but not Matilda, so we named her Natalie, and call her Tillie. She even gets Tillie shortened to Till and Tills. Not sure that helps….

SnoringNorma · 23/11/2014 01:33

I know a sibset Molly Lilly and Jamie.

cherrybombxo · 25/11/2014 15:39

I love Rosie and Edie xo

Whoops, very un-MN kisses on that message! I've just been emailing my best friend and got carried away replying here... Blush

trevortrevorslattery · 25/11/2014 15:46

There are sisters on The Archers called Molly and Tilly Button. In case that helps with your decision Smile

redrubyindigo · 25/11/2014 22:52
