Or something else? To go with Imogen.

Sorry I mean Imogen is the sister.

Both beautiful.

Miranda? Less original I know.

Methe · 19/11/2014 22:06

Both beautiful but I personally prefer Linnet :)

RoseyHope · 19/11/2014 22:07

Linnet sounds like a type of mollusc to me.

But I like it. :)

Ikeameatballs · 19/11/2014 22:07

Blythe

Artandco · 19/11/2014 22:08

Prefer Linnet

How about Liesel?

Sophronia · 20/11/2014 00:05

Linnet.

How about Linnea?

saturnvista · 20/11/2014 00:18

lol at type of mollusc. Limpet doesn't have the same ring at all! It's a very old English name - a musical instrument. Linnea sounds a bit like linear I think? Liesel is lovely but I'm afraid she'd get weasel.

I love linnet but fear she may end up as Lin / Lynne which I'm not fond of.....

Sophronia · 20/11/2014 00:34

Linnea is pronounced lih-NAY-a

14legs · 20/11/2014 00:36

When I was 14, I was going to call any future daughter Linnet (because I loved the Children of Green Knowe) until my friend said "sounds like a tampon".

Allalonenow · 20/11/2014 01:06

How about Verity to go with Imogen?

I quite like Linnet, but think she would always get Lynne which I don't think is as pretty.

butterfliesinmytummy · 20/11/2014 02:56

Linnea is House of Fraser own brand clothing isn't it?

I have a Verity, she gets called Vee or Vivi. We're in USA, no-one has ever heard of "Verity" ("Veeridee" Hmm) but everyone comments on how pretty it is.

I thought a linnet is a bird? Confused That was my first association FWIW. I've never heard it in English but the Welsh equivalent (Llinos) is quite common in Welsh-speaking Wales. It could, annoyingly, end up as Lynne or Lynnette.

I much prefer Blythe - it makes me think of the film Blithe Spirit which I love.

MaMaPo · 20/11/2014 05:08

Also immediately thought of a mollusc when I read Linnet! Sorry.

Blythe is quite nice.

Clover?

nooka · 20/11/2014 05:19

I love Linnet because I loved Greene Knowe stories and Linnet was a particularly nice character. I don't really like Blythe

Noellefielding · 20/11/2014 05:35

I'm afraid linnet is too close to winnet which I think is slang for a bit of poo that remains attached after evacuation.
I'm so sorry! I think Linnet is too obscure for a name. She also then has to spend her life spelling and explaining it which I think is a burden. Why not give a child a traditional or uncontroversial name and have a family nickname? I just think life is hard enough without giving the world ammo agin yr baby
But some kids grow up proud of a distinctive name.....
Why not Linnet as a middle name?
Sorry to be negative!
Blythe is pretty

isitsnowingyet · 20/11/2014 05:53

Gorgeous - I like both names - so sweet + unusual. Possibly like Linnet better - but not sure

tammytoby · 20/11/2014 06:38

Both are beautiful names. Think I prefer Blythe but both lovely!

Any previous associations will vanish once people meet your lovely dd and associate the names with her.

Sunna · 20/11/2014 06:42

I remember a character called Linnet in a girls' comic in the late 50s. Ive always loved it.

Blythe not so much.

LaceyLee · 20/11/2014 07:49

Blythe is lovely, was on my list but Dh vetoed. Has a nice meaning also. Linnet reminds me of the bird, Blythe is better!

50ShadesofNope · 20/11/2014 09:28

Not a huge fan of Blythe because there's a town in the NE called Blyth. Too close for me in afraid. Saying that, providing you don't intend to live up here then I imagine it won't be an issue, and objectively I prefer it to Linnet, but both are pretty. Smile

shakemysilliesout · 20/11/2014 09:47

Linnet sounds like lillet to me- sanpro
