Can you suggest any more for me please? Struggling to find something that is beautiful and strong yet timeless and feminine. Girls names are much harder than boys imo..

Just need some inspiration, I'm not liking many girls names at the moment..
Thanks!

Thank you!

I like Ellen and maybe Alice, they are fitting well into the Diana-Laura-Anna category I set myself up. A lot of the others don't seem to quite fit though?

And I do like Marina quite a lot as it is a lovely flowing sound, I didn't know this one could be classed as traditional in the same way the others are? Feels like a 'newer' name although I am not an expert! Are there any nn's?

Marina - quite often found in Russia, but Marina Ogilvy is around 50 (so not a new name) and a relation of the Queen. It was our number one name for a girl, and we would have shortened it to Marnie.

lollydollydrop1 · 10/11/2014 20:09

It's nice (Marina) somehow reminds me of a mermaid...!!

Well you have marinas for boats so that association would make sense, the sea and all that!

lollydollydrop1 · 10/11/2014 20:12

haha!

Good point! :) I think it means 'of the sea' aswell

Marina was the mermaid in Captain Scarlet. Possibly where your association originates.
