How common is Leo where you live? Or Leo-names, ie: Leon, Leonardo

... Leonard, Leander, Leonardo ...

And if you're happy to disclose, whereabouts do you live? I think it's quite common in London but less so elsewhere. But happy to be proved wrong!

I'm in NI and the only Leo I've ever known is elderly. I know a young child called Lennie , but no Leonards, Leos or Leons.

mymummademelistentoshitmusic · 10/11/2014 00:34

West Yorkshire here, not at all common. And Leon is seen as very downmarket. Has been for decades.

Greaterthan · 10/11/2014 00:43

That's interesting about Leon being seen as downmarket. It's the same in France someone told me. I wonder why? I quite like it! I wouldn't like it being shortened to Lee though.

Hi Treacle, where is NI?

TentsAndTiaras · 10/11/2014 00:59

I know more animals called Leo than people

Greaterthan · 10/11/2014 01:07

Well that doesn't bode well Tents. Are they dogs?

A few Leo's after the Di Cap era....not that common.

redcaryellowcar · 10/11/2014 06:00

I'm in Surrey and not heard of any at nursery or playgroup etc? Like it though.

FairyPenguin · 10/11/2014 06:27

I'm in the SE and know one baby Leo (that's his full name).

KenDoddsDadsDog · 10/11/2014 06:31

Last baby boy born that I know is a Leo. One before that is a Leon.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 10/11/2014 06:32

Sorry , in NE England. NI = Northern Ireland.

treaclesoda · 10/11/2014 07:04

Sorry, should have been clearer. Ken is right, I meant I'm in N Ireland.

Artandco · 10/11/2014 07:09

I know a Leo, a Lionel and a leonidas . All London. All under 5 years

Shootthemoon · 10/11/2014 07:11

Pipbin · 10/11/2014 10:09

In the school I teach in I can think of 3 Leos and two Lennys.

Madcatgirl · 10/11/2014 10:11

Wishfulmakeupping · 10/11/2014 10:13

I'm in staffs and know one Leander, I'd guess she's about 40 and know no human Leo's but do know a german shepherd and cocker spaniel with the name, no cats though which is odd considering the leo/lion connection.

SurfsUp1 · 11/11/2014 22:39

I'm in Australia and I have a Leo named after my lovely old neighbor. There is one other Leo in ds's year at school but other than that I only know one other who is about 2.
All 3 are Leo as fn. It is a fn not just a nn but you probably know that.
My Leo was born in London and we didn't come across any other baby Leo's st the time (7 years ago)

WhispersOfWickedness · 11/11/2014 22:43

I know one in the South East who is probably about 8 by now, and a two year old Leo who is in the East Midlands.

HappyTalking · 11/11/2014 23:42

I am in NW England and know 2 Leo's, both around 5 years old.
