Francesca Alice or Lara Elisabeth?

Votes please for DD2 due in three weeks.. Our surname is one syllable beginning with C. I feel Francesca Alice is our safer choice most like DD1's name which is a longer classic name which we shorten 99% of the time. Lara we only recent came up with and it's really grown on me. I previously posted when we thinking about Annabel Georgia but I've discounted Annabel, there are too many Ella's, Bella's in our area plus the doll and the film have put me off.

I love Lara, and strongly dislike Fran and Frankie, and I don't like Alice and I do like Elizabeth. So, without question:-

Lara Elizabeth

DecaffTastesWeird · 05/11/2014 12:12

Oh I like Francesca Lara if that's an option..? If not, Francesca Alice.

Sophronia · 05/11/2014 12:15

Lara Elisabeth.

Riverland · 05/11/2014 12:17

Francesca Alice is lovely.

I don't like the name Lara, or the name Elizabeth!

icklekid · 05/11/2014 12:19

Love Lara Elisabeth great name!

rogerlbo34 · 05/11/2014 12:31

i will go with Lara Elisabeth.

ralinax294 · 05/11/2014 17:38

Francesca Alice.

BiancaDelRio · 05/11/2014 17:38

Francesca Alice. Frankie is fab.

Lara is very very insipid.

juneau · 05/11/2014 17:38

Francesca Alice

Pandora37 · 05/11/2014 19:27

I love both but don't like the repetitive sound of Francesca C- (assuming it's a hard C sound). So if your surname starts with a hard C then I'd go with Lara, soft C I'd pick Francesca.

Orangeisthenewbanana · 05/11/2014 19:29

Both would be lovely, but just prefer Francesca Alice

ashesandfire · 05/11/2014 19:29

Francesca Alice- love both names and nn Chess
Lara is a bit meh imo.

Safmellow · 05/11/2014 19:37

I love Lara! Seems to be a marmite name! :)

DramaAlpaca · 05/11/2014 20:29

Lara Elisabeth

SurfsUp1 · 06/11/2014 01:06

Lara is very suburban sounding compared to Francesca. Frankie is such a great nn too.

CharmQuark · 06/11/2014 01:09

Lara Elizabeth is hard to say. I don't think that names beginning with a vowel sound good after a name ending in a. Francesca Alice has the same problem but isn't as bad. Francesca Lara?

CharmQuark · 06/11/2014 01:11

Or Elizabeth Alice or Elizabeth Francesca......or Elizabeth Lars

penguinthermometer · 06/11/2014 01:20

Francesca Alice. Nothing wrong with Lara but I think it would date a bit more easily (Lara Stone, etc.) Francesca is lovely, and nn doesn't have to be Frankie - could be Fran, Frances, etc.

penguinthermometer · 06/11/2014 01:21

Francesca Alice!

penguinthermometer · 06/11/2014 01:23

Sorry, posting problems there! Thought first post hadn't appeared!

TurquoiseDress · 06/11/2014 09:54

I love the name Lara!

Not keen on Franscesca but personal choice and all that.

RiverTam · 06/11/2014 09:58

Lara Elisabeth

however - I have Elisabeth as my middle name and I've had a lifetime of returning official documents and so on because they've spelt Elisabeth with a 'z'. (see how many people so far haven't spotted you've spelt it with an 's'.)

It's a total bore, and I don't actually think it's any nicer with an 's' than a 'z'! I certainly don't thank my parents for giving me the more 'interesting' spelling!

BlueStarsAtNight · 06/11/2014 11:11

I agree with pp who said Francesca C would sound odd with the repeated c sounds, though I do prefer Francesca to Lara.

hatsybatsy · 06/11/2014 11:31

Just one observation on giving a girl the initials FA or LE.... who knows what her surname might end up as? might give her a rather unfortunate set of initials?

dd was going to be HA but our surname is a G so that was out straight away......

CharmQuark · 06/11/2014 18:29

What? First names for girls should be tested against every possible letter of the alphabet? What are the surnames that worry you?

And anyway surely by another generation women and men will just look at the choices of name changing on offer and adopt either them man's or the woman's or keep their own or do whatever seems best, including unfortunate initials, rather than just changing the woman's name.
