We've been through all our possible family names and none of them are quite right. So any suggestions?

I think Hester is best suited to a shorter middle name. ...

Hester Grace
Hester Maude
Hester Faye
Hester Blanche

loislines · 02/11/2014 09:21

Love Hester Maude but there is no way that OH would agree.

Hester Maria does sound good but I'm not a big fan of Maria. .. will dwell on that one!

Any more suggestions? Siblings are Mabel Alice and Leonard Peter by the way.

Hester Lucy
Hester Ellen

Hester is a gorgeous name.

loislines · 02/11/2014 09:31

Ellen was a favourite but we thought it would end up with her having to say "no, not Esther Helen, Hester Ellen" all the time...

BubblegumBrigade · 02/11/2014 10:56

Go for Hester Ellen.
There will be no situation in which you introduce her by her full name, is there? I can't envision any situation in which someone who knows her as Hester suddenly gets blindsided by the introduction of a middle name into the mix and then calls her Esther.

loislines · 02/11/2014 17:02

Hmmm I'm still not convinced about giving the poor child two names that sound like names they aren't!

I suggested Hester Hazel which got laughed at...

Pity about Maria not being entirely to your liking -they sound so well together!!! Grin I also agree with the two-syllable middle name idea, although depending on the accent three syllables might work. I think you need a vowel-y sound at the end of the second name for it to flow nicely.
Hester Therese
Hester Catrine
Hester Sabine
Hester Francine
Hester Imelda
Hester Maureen (really old-fashioned!)

Hester Leonora

ICanTotallyDance · 03/11/2014 05:09

I really like Hester Louise.

If you don't like Hester Maria, how about Hester Marie?

Or how about:
Hester Ann/Anne
Hester Eleanor
Hester Diane or Hester Diana (not too good on its own, but nice with a surname)
Hester Charlotte
Hester Eve

Less conventional but I like these:

Hester Luella
Hester Florence

saffronwblue · 03/11/2014 05:16

Hester Penelope
Hester Felicity
Hester Eloise
Hester Elizabeth

I think it sounds good with lots of syllables

SurfsUp1 · 05/11/2014 02:43

Rather than Hester Maria, what about Hester Marisa? Pronounced the Italian way mar-EE-sa. Still goes really well but feels a little bit more glamorous?

Riverland · 05/11/2014 03:13

Doesn't it depend what your surname is?

If your surname is Gordon, and you call her Hester Uma, her initials will be HUG.

If your surname is Hamilton, and you call her Hester Emmeline her initials will be HEH. Or Hester Robina Hamilton...

KillashandraRee · 05/11/2014 04:08

Hester May.

Admiraltea · 05/11/2014 04:26

Your two existing middles names Alice and Peter are wonderful story names to me ...so

Hester Jane (Peter and Jane)
Hester Susan / Hester Lucy (Narnia sisters to Peter)
Hester Margaret / Hester Mathilda (names used for Alice in Wonderland's sister in films)
Hester Lorina (Alice Liddell's real older sister's name)
Hester Wendy (Peter Pan)
Hester Judi (just 'cos Judi Dench played Alice Liddell in the play Alice and Peter)

I love story names...always wanted mine to be in a book and so far is only a dutiful knitting type character accused of being a witch in a Hans Christien Anderson.

I wanted to be Susan Pevensie with a bow and arrows!

loislines · 05/11/2014 11:42

Thanks all. Current favourites are:

Hester Anna
Hester Rachel
Hester Eve
Hester Iris
Hester Faye

Thoughts on these, or any other suggestions?

moxon · 05/11/2014 14:07

One syllable in this case I think. Eve or Faye. Iris if you're set on two syllables however.
