A sister for...

Annie.

I asked this question about a month ago and I thought we had settled on 'Ellen'. But neither myself or DH love it, absolutely nothing wrong with it, just not sure...

So back to the drawing board.

Our requirements are, we need a name:

  • that is easy to spell without asking, our surname is very short but you have to spell it out to everyone twice and still they get wrong.
  • that goes with Annie, so nothing crazy modern (like Ivy Blue) or overly princessy (like Isadora)
  • Nothing in the top 20 names, both DH and I have them we were both one of many at school and still one of many many at work, and I hate it.

Names that we like but we can't use:

  • Maggie (both sets of GPs can only see Thatcher)
  • Megan, Tessa (people we know that we don't want to name after)
  • Elizabeth (only nn we like is Beth, doesn't work with Annie, or I like Buffy Grin)
  • Eilidh (no one can spell it!)
  • Elsie / Elsa (stuupid frozen)

Names that are still up for consideration:
Ailsa
Ellen
Iona

Any thoughts? On either, names for consideration, names we can't use or other names we should consider...

Thanks!

I quite like Beth too.

Why do you think they do not go together?

Elizabeth Anne, I think of as a classic first name and middle name combination, so IMHO Beth and Annie work well as a sibling set too. (NB I believe at least three people in different branches of DP and my families are names Elizabeth Anne so this has made me slightly biased to its normality).

Aisla goes quite nicely, both 'A'names!

What about..

Daisy
Bethany (Beth)

All pretty names to match Annie! Smile

In what way does Beth not go with Annie?

Anyhoo, how about Kate, Emma, Alice?

The GP would get over the Thatcher thing within an hour of meeting your baby, so I don't think that should be a consideration.
Do they think of a musical every time they see you other daughter?

I know an Annie and Fern sibset

Kittykatmacbill · 30/10/2014 15:41

thanks for your thoughts all, so many of the names that we thought about are in list. Interesting how so many of you have suggested my name!

We thought that having a pair of daughters called Beth and Annie was too close to Bethany, but maybe not...

No, I don't like Ellen. Not a nice shape. And kind of outdated - reminds me of the comedian. Also, far too many Ellie/Eleanor names at the mo.

to go with Annie -

Merryn
Heidi
Frieda
Margot

Beth and Annie sounds fine to me (and I really like Beth). They'd probably be "Annie and Beth" anyway.
