Leo - thoughts?

hi all!

kinda struggling with boy's names here. DP likes the name Leo, which I'm in 2 minds about. I like short names like this though.

What do you think of Leo? Any other similar short names?

also we have both decided on James as a middle name as both our grandads are called that.

I prefer James as a first name - a very strong classic - but do also like Leo.

CountBapula · 25/10/2014 17:13

DS1's middle name is James. And DS2's first name is Leo. So I think you have very good taste Wink

bronya · 25/10/2014 17:15

Love it :)

Trooperslane · 25/10/2014 17:16

Lovely.

SanityClause · 25/10/2014 17:19

The only only Leo I know is about 11 and is smug smug smuggity smug smug smug.

What about Theo, Ivo or Hugo? Jago is also nice, but doesn't go with James.

summerlovingliz · 25/10/2014 17:19

Also love it and would have happily chosen it for a boySmile

Really like Leo. It's a very strong name - classic yet modern.

I really like both Leo and James Smile

starlight1234 · 25/10/2014 18:14

I love Leo

squoosh · 25/10/2014 18:57

Leo is a great name.

Wildpoppies · 25/10/2014 19:46

Great name. Is getting popular now (can't go to a playground without hearing it) but is nice. Can you tell I have one? I liked the idea of him being strong and proud like a lion. And it is the name of popes and kings.

TeaAndALemonTart · 25/10/2014 19:47

Very popular here but ok.

Mouldypineapple · 25/10/2014 19:48

I like it. Also becoming more popular I think.

My rabbit is called Leo if that helps...

surroundedbyblondes · 25/10/2014 19:52

DD2 has been to the birthday party of a lovely Leo, just turned 4 years old. A happy little chap, kind and full of fun!

littlejohnnydory · 25/10/2014 21:30

Great name - more popular than we thought when we used it but still love it.

Theo
Ivo

are names we've dismissed this time as too similar to Leo.

moggle · 25/10/2014 23:11

It's our frontrunner if we have a boy. The increasing popularity does bug me a little but it goes well with our surname and can't really be shortened which is something that bugs me a lot about my MIL who has to shorten every name she ever hears...

Wildpoppies · 25/10/2014 23:17

Despite the popularity our Leo has been to two nurseries (as we moved house) and has been the only Leo in both of them. Nor is there a Leo at our daughter's school.

CointreauVersial · 25/10/2014 23:20

DD2 would have been Leo if she had been DS2.

I love the name. Short, not too common, can't be abbreviated, no one will get it wrong.

babyblabber · 26/10/2014 10:05

this bump will be leo or luca if it's a boy. I love leo, it's a great name that fits all of our criteria. not too popular (certainly not in Ireland, yet!), short, no nicknames, easy to spell and say for everyone wherever he may go.
