So now that DC1 is officially on the way AND that DH has come up with acceptable suggestions, I would love to hear your opinions on our list:

Ysolde (or Isolde or Essyllt but prefer the Y spelling because it is the same initial as my DM)
Anouk
Beryl (nn Berry?) - I read horrible reviews dating back to a few years ago, does MN still hate Beryl? Confused
Marielle
Adelaide (nn Ada?)
Willa

Gustave (nn Gus)
Alistair
Isaac
Piers
Maximilian (nn Max)
Yves
Gweltaz (how easy would it be for you to spell/pronounce?)

We are not in the UK - but may very well move back there soon. Potential mn are Ellen/Lena/Helena, Yvonne, Louis/Louise/Louisa, Martha, Eva, Ann/Anna, Allen/Alan, Morris, Robert, Alexander(a).

Help me pick a combination for both boy or girl as we will not be finding out before DC1 is here!

Thank you!

I find it quite puzzling that Gweltaz is not easily pronounceable in English as it is the same as it reads: Gw-ell-taz, same as the beginning of Gwenn and ends like "as". It is Breton for Gildas and had the great advantage of not ending in "ass" for DH who is obsessed with playground teasing.

I think Yseute would be fine.
Isaac Morris Robert is v v nice.

I think Gweltaz would be pronounced as it's written by most people in the UK.

I prefer Lena to Elaine, and think you'd get away with Marlene!

I just wanted to add, that I LOVE Ysolde. It is very rare/unheard of where I am from.

Marielle & Adelaide are my favourite, girl...

Isaac & Maximilian are my favourite, boy...

Louise and Alexander always work well in the middle!

Marielle Louise/Isaac Alexander (kinda sounds like there's too many as! Robert might be better) SmileThanks

Breton names rawk IHateHelloKitty! We're considering Brieuc for number two.

ABitAsleep · 08/03/2016 12:06

Marielle Helena for a girl is lovely!

I like Isaac best for a boy, with either Robert or Alexander for middle names.

this thread is 18 months old. Little Beryl is probably running around causing all sorts of peril by now.

I like Anouk
