Huck?

DP and I both like Henry for a boy. DP is Canadian and we're both quite keen on N American-type nn for any name we chose.

We thought about Hank and Hal as possible nn for Henry. I posted on here about what people think of Hank and mostly people said "wank" and "Hank Shrader - so no".

So - what do people think of Huck?

And yes, I know it rhymes with fuck...

By the way, we can't just go with Harry as when DP says it it sounds like 'hairy'...!

I like it. I liked it on the huckleberry thread the other day and still like it.

If he doesn't like Huck himself he can revert to Henry when he's older and Huck will be his family/childhood name.

I quite like it as a nickname for Henry, prefer it to Harry. Think I might prefer Hal though.

Not keen. It sounds like a hiccup to me.

SweetsForMySweet · 21/10/2014 14:48

I don't like it personally but if you do then go for it.

GilbertBlytheWouldGetIt · 21/10/2014 14:52

What's wrong with Henry?

squeak2392 · 22/10/2014 02:06

I don't like it, but as a nn I guess it's fine. Definitely better than Hank and Hal.
Maybe you should just let a nn develop naturally. You never know, he might end up as Hens or Hez or something.

birdofthenorth · 22/10/2014 09:54

I think Hank is better than Huck. Though I rally like Huxley, appreciating this is a totally different name...

AuntieStella · 22/10/2014 09:57

Sorry, but I think that Huck/Fuck is just as problematic as Hank/Wank

(thread title made me think of drunken Lady Whiteadder)

AuntieStella · 22/10/2014 09:59

BTW, nns do evolve spontaneously, but people often stick with what their parents call them, so would Hal or Henners be OK?

fishfingerSarnies · 24/10/2014 13:42

I love Hal as a nn
