A friend had her baby on Monday and has named him the only boys name we like/can agree on.
She's not a particularly close friend but we share a lot of friends.
Can we still use it?!

Yep, id still use it. In fact, if she is friendly enough to be sending your congratulations id send "Congratulations on the safe arrival of X, excellent name taste, thats what we chose for ours!"

DramaAlpaca · 18/10/2014 22:15

I'd do what Think suggests & let her know immediately that's the name you've chosen so that she doesn't think you've 'copied' her by announcing the name when your baby arrives, then go ahead & use it.

Thanks guys, funnily enough I congratulated her on the dreaded Facebook and said quality taste as my fav boy name!
I'm team yellow so could be worrying about nothing if baby is a pink one!

Definitely choose the name you want regardless.

If you're not close, it's fine to use it. Your friends will probably give one or both of the kids a nn or call them Amy's Finley and Kayleigh's Finlay, eg.

Absolutely go with the name you want.
