Just how bad are the initials BJ?

Last name starts with a J. I had previously made a rule that we therefore can't use a name that starts with a B, but DH and I like very few of the same boys names and one we both like, if we could use it, is Benjamin (Ben). Would we, as I suspect, be dooming him to a lifetime of teasing or would it not be that bad?

As it happens I know a Ben Jones but never noticed his initials until I saw them on his sports top, but I met him post-school age which is where I imagine the problems will occur.

It's not bad in RL.

Only on MN is it bad.

My ex boyfriend was a BJ. I think he did get teased a bit as a kid about it, but he had a middle name initial which helped make it a bit less obvious.

The only really awkward moment was that there was a gay bar near where we lived called BJs (yes really) and one day his dad spotted it and said 'oh that place has the same initials as you, son, do you ever go there?'

I know a B.O. that's pretty bad but B.J. is also bad.

I knew a Spanish girl who married a Scottish guy.

She had a wee boy and had always loved the name Juan but her husband's surname was Kerr….

I had same issue, surname begins with a J and wanted Ben for a boy! But knew it was an absolute no no, so it was struck off the list.

Seriously don't do it, kids have hard enough time at school as it is.

My coworker's wife is a Bname-Jname Surname, and everyone calls her BJ and takes the mick. This is 30+ year Olds, and she says she's had it since she was about 10. I guess it depends whether you are likely to produce an extrovert DC, in which case it won't matter much.
