I need inspiration, I like the following but am not sold on any; Rose, Minnie, Meg, Nell, Rowan and Elizabeth (with nn Ettie, Etta, Effie or Bess).

If I like the above what else might I like?

Esme?

Exactly what was going on in my head Stone.

Loving all the suggestions, it's canny as many are on my long list, as well as my daughter's, best friend's (quite unusual) and my name.

I have a Bess! Not a nickname, we just used it as her 'main' name so coukd that be a possibility? With Elizabeth you have a lot of possibilities.

And DD2 is Margot, nn Maggie. We get a lot of compliments on both names

KenDodddied · 17/10/2014 10:37

I'm also starting to love Margot but him in doors snorted, which means no chance. Bess is lovely, does she get called Bessie though? Not so keen and folks do like to ie a name. They do with my daughter and it slightly grates (not enough to correct anyone though).

I'm not a big fan of Bessie either - her nicknames are b related but not her name, if you know what i mean (like Boo, Beans, for example). I think because she doesn't get called Bessie by us people don't tend to use it. Mind you, funnily enough SHE calls herself Bessie!

Shame about Margot! We had Maggie on the list for ages but it felt too informal on its own - Bess is kind of strong on it's own, iykwim - and finally arrived at Margot. In fairness, it's taken a little while for her yo really be a Margot rather than a Maggie, but she's really started to 'look' her name now!

But which are which?Grin
What about

Clementine, could have Minnie as a nn

Honor

Greta

Constance, could be Coco rather than Connie

Miranda

Love Margot. Anne Frank's sister.

I've not read the whole thread so might have already said no, but go Elizabeth, there are a thousand nicknames for it so you can choose when you see her. If I have a girl I'm going Elizabeth and choocing izzy, Beth, Eliza as my first choices.

kittenmamma · 18/10/2014 17:13

Should have read the thread!! But there's a couple of different nn for you!
