Too close to Aubrey?

We love the name Oberon (using the moon spelling) as a middle name for our baby boy as it combines our love of Space and literature but our daughter is called Aubrey. Both names also have a similar, if not the same, meaning. So we're hesitating.

Would you use the name if you knew this?

As a middle name, yes.Smile

Absolutely fine to use. Anyone not doing/having done an English degree is unlikely to spot the connection. I like the sentiment for a MN.

BlueStarsAtNight · 10/10/2014 23:54

Fine as a mn, not as a first name

i like it but I cant help think it might be 'nicknamed' to Obi-Wan.

ok if he turns out to be a star wars fan.

MultipleMama · 11/10/2014 14:46

I can't see how it'll be nicknamed to Obi-Wan... Maybe because I'm not a Star Wars fan or know who Obi is Grin

As Aubrey is a traditional boys name (short form of Oberon/Auberon) then yes, I think I'd find that use of names very strange.

I thought it was a variant not a short form? Either way, after asking on another site as well, we've decided not to use it, just because it's too similar. Although I really wanted to use the Moon spelling, damn.
