DS2 due in Jan. We already have a Leo but very stuck on what to call his new brother. Opinions please! Middle name will probably be Alexander.

I like Felix Alexander :)

moxon · 06/10/2014 14:25

Leo and Rudy sound like a fun pair of brothers!

diddl · 06/10/2014 14:28

I don't like Francis.

Like both Rudy & Felix.

Felix Alexander sounds better to me than Rudy Alexander.

Freckles22 · 06/10/2014 14:35

Thanks! It's a tough one. Leo seemed to be born with an innate cheekiness - always on the go, very strong willed but with these long eyelashes and cute grin that lets him get away with murder. If I knew DS2 was going to be similar then I think Rudy would be a good fit - it's a cheeky name to live up to. Francis is the opposite end of the scale, a name that's a bit more grown up and serious although could be softened to Fran. Maybe Felix is the best middle ground - a name which could fit with either a cheeky or serious nature. This one is certainly a lot calmer in the womb!

I like Rudy the best, followed by Francis. Not keen on Felix. Leo and Felix together are very catlike!

figgieroll · 06/10/2014 14:48

Francis because then he can have the nn frankie

poppydaisy · 06/10/2014 14:54

Francis - classic, underused, solid name! Frankie as nickname.

Rudy is way too 'rude' and Felix is a cat food brand in the UK.

Freckles22 · 06/10/2014 15:20

The cat link doesn't bother us in the slightest - we are very much a cat loving family, the kind that receives birthday cards predominantly with cats on so it wouldn't be an unexpected choice for us. For me Felix is the 'safe' name which sort of makes me want to go for one of the others. I do worry about the Rude Rudy thing though and I love Francis but don't really like the nn Frankie. I just don't know!

I had an uncle Francis and his nn was Francie. I prefer Francis (mainly), or Rudy (but would worry about the 'rude' nn/jokes), Felix to me is a cat too.

Montsti · 06/10/2014 18:01

Definitely Felix! I don't like the name Francis at all and we used to call farts, "rudies" when we were growing up...

CruCru · 06/10/2014 18:11

I've always loved Francis.

5madthings · 06/10/2014 18:14

I like Francis, but Ilove Rudy. Am biased as I have a Rudi, but spelt with an I. It's a lovely name.

AugustRose · 06/10/2014 18:40

Definitely Felix - I have a Felix and I love the name, he is only one I know as it is not a popular name where I live.

Kantha · 06/10/2014 19:05

Rudy and Leo sound good together.

Felix Alexander repeats the 'x' sound, so prefer Rudy or Francis with Alexander.

Francis and Leo do sound quite different to each other, but fit better with Frank or Frankie as a nn.

DecaffTastesWeird · 06/10/2014 20:14

I like Francis - it's classic and, although they are nice names and quite popular, I think Rudy & Felix might date... Frankie's quite a cool nn for a LO too.

Northernrose · 06/10/2014 22:13

Felix

Freckles22 · 07/10/2014 09:59

Thanks all! I think we are leaning towards Felix now but still got a month or two to change our minds!

My vote is definitely for Felix.

Branleuse · 07/10/2014 10:08

Theyre all brilliant

grufallosfriend · 07/10/2014 14:34

Francis is the most classic imo. Elegant, strong and masculine.

Felix is becoming quite trendy (and has the cat food connection) and Rudy sounds like rude.

Felix - you have hit on the two names I had top of ny 'boysname list' - Alexander and Felix - nice one

MultipleMama · 10/10/2014 23:30

I love Felix. But that's because we're naming our little boy Feliks Grin so I'm biased.

I like Alexander as a middle name, more than the others although we did like Francis as a middle name for our last baby
