I mean in the population at large, not just for babies.

I know it used to be John smith but is it still?

I'm guessing David for men and Susan for women

Mohammed is the most common male name in the world I think. No idea about women's names though.

That's interesting, I hadn't thought about name popularity like this. Watching to see if anyone has any links for the UK.

Yes I think I knew that about Mohammed, makes sense. If I remember correctly khan is the most common world wide surname (from genghis!)

But what about the uk?

I think it is very interesting how people get very hung up on baby name popularity but don't think much about popularity overall.

Yes I think the John smith generation is dying out, though iim sure there are still plenty!

I guess Susan because I think it was no 1 for girls for the baby boom generation so there are loads. Elizabeth seems also a good contender as I know loads of all ages.
