Help!! Difficult choice of boys names: Sean, Daniel or Balonz?

Dear MNers. Hoping you might all be able to help us out as we’re having real difficulty agreeing a name for DS due soon. For DD, we went 'rare'. Weren’t sure we were quite ready to find some ultra-weird name, but equally there are millions of Kates, Elizabeths and so ons.

For DD though, we’re thinking a much more traditional name, perhaps inspired by close friends/family. What are MNers’ thoughts on either Sean, Daniel or Balonz? Many thanks in advance!

I love the comment about eating en elephant. 'How was i supposed to know it was in my quiche?' Grin These kinds of threads are mumsnet at its best. They should publish the classics in a book.

Bumping to add that DD heard me howling about this thread to DH, and her (female) baby doll now delights in the name of Balonz. And I have to cuddle/feed/wipe the arse of Balonz while keeping a straight face.

moxon · 08/10/2014 06:49

FWIW: I think Theo will have to return here once Balonz is born and post a photo of Data and her brother in their infant Treksuits.

Don't let this thread go Balonzing off ... funniest thread in a LONG time!

I am crying and I have dribbled on my iPad. Balonz.

Just caught up with this thread and laughing so much, that my sleeping husband next to me, got up in a huff and is now in the spare room.
It was worth it...

You must be proud, Theo!

TheoGB · 11/11/2014 15:23

Extremely proud Yonic

It's so satisfying to see a traditional name come back into fashion again. I'm just pleased to have played my own small part in that.

God this was funny.

I loved the forum exchange too.

HolgerDanske · 09/09/2017 21:15

And yes I know it's a Zombie!!!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 09/09/2017 21:29

Daniel.

buttercup54321 · 09/09/2017 21:30

Balonz is really awful. Sean ok but I prefer Shaun. Daniel is great.

DiegoMadonna · 09/09/2017 21:55

And yes I know it's a Zombie!!!

Yeah but everyone posting after this isn't going to!

HolgerDanske · 09/09/2017 21:57

Heh I know...

But I thought it deserved another 5 min of fame Wink

Snorted. Cried. Snorted some more. Funniest thread I've read in ages

coughingbean · 09/09/2017 22:12

flamingnoravera · 20/09/2017 18:05

I came here from the Farrah thread but now I cant find the Farrah thread. Has it gone?

Peppaismysaviour · 20/09/2017 20:25

Another year where Balonz hasn't entered top 100. Gutted
Maybe next year?

HaHaHmm · 20/09/2017 21:05

Oh, I love this thread. Nice to see it back. It should really be in Classics.

kaytee87 · 01/02/2018 08:41

Oh god I've been pissing myself laughing at this thread!!!

B-A-L-O-N-Z just to make sure no one is using the other common spelling of the name Grin
Obviously data is traditionally a boys name but what the hell Grin

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 01/02/2018 08:55

Id go for Daniel. I don't like it personally. However it is a nice normal name.

I like the actual sound of Balonz, but I do agree it does sound like balloons.
Sean is one of the most repulsive boy names ever, imo. Sorry to all the Seans and parents of Seans.

Buxbaum · 01/02/2018 15:58

This is the thread that keeps on giving.

Hopingnwishing · 01/02/2018 19:43

Having cried twice today at my miserable situation, this thread cheered me right up. I'd love to know what her daughter was called if it was a rarer name than Balonz...

Topseyt · 02/02/2018 00:33

So, was this baby, who will now be about three, named Balonz? I can't help thinking that it must mean testicles, or bollocks if you like.
