Cameron and Phoebe - dated?

Top of my (very) shortlist are Cameron and Phoebe. I love them both but I do worry that the popularity of Cameron a few years back and the current popularity of Phoebe will 'date' the names. Will they become the next Sharon/Dave? I also love Dylan but fear that may date in the same way!

Pick what you like and don't worry about fashion. Only some names are classic such as David, which is also a bit dull.

I love Phoebe and quite like Cameron which isn't fashionable, a classic Scottish name tbh. It's just it reminds me of our knobhead PM so that would put me off!

I'd say Cameron is getting a bit dated already going by the popularity charts, but Phoebe isn't yet. I don't think they will be the next Sharon and Dave. Cameron does remind me of the PM though.

I don't think they'll fare too badly as they've both got a good provenance. I think it's nigh on impossible to look for a name that doesn't date to some degree though.

I think James is the only name in the world that doesn't date.

I think there are other names popular in the past few years which are much more susceptible to 'dating'. They're not too cute, not too soft, not remotely ugly. Should fare well.

Phoebe has been in top 50 for the last 16 years so I do not think it can date at all.

Pretty name imo (dd1s name :) )

Cameron I dont know as much about bug no I dont think it is the next Dave.

Cameron is pretty classic/traditional, for boys at least. I can think of Camerons across a number of generations and can imagine this will continue for generations to come, although its popularity will peak and trough. Pheobe doesn't strike me as a name that will date quickly either. I think both are lovely names.

How lovely to get such positive feedback, thanks everyone. I have worried about the David Cameron link but I'm hoping after May we won't hear too much more about him - wishful thinking maybe!

I love phoebe Smile

It's quite literally the only girls name I like.

Cameron is nice but agree that it does remind me of pm. Sorry - it's silly I know. Wink

What about Callum, Connor, Caleb?
