2 similar names - do I break the pattern?

I have two boys called Samuel and Gabriel. I'd like to have another child, but if it's a boy, I don't know whether to continue the -el name pattern or not. If I did, the name would probably be Nathaniel. If I didn't, the name would probably be Alexander. What do you think?

Nathaniel would be too much imo. Alexander goes with them well.

It's nice to have a non matching name.

SillyBlueHat · 22/09/2014 19:57

They won't always be known by their full names though?

Sam and Nate sounds fine, but Samuel and Nathaniel are very similar. I don't think Samuel and Gabriel are similar enough to need to continue the -el trend.
If you did you could put it at the start instead. Elliot or Elijah.

Alexander's lovely, and goes well.

Do you actually like Nathaniel, or would you just use it because it's an -el name? I guess if you don't actually call them Samuel and Nathaniel it would be fine, but I'd only use it if you actually prefer it to Alexander.

Just want to suggest names, like Noel, Ruel, Daniel, Miguel.

Michael would be nice, and sounds different enough. Love Mikey as a nickname.

We call them Sammy and Gibby. I like the names Nathaniel and Alexander equally. I've already got close family called Michael and Daniel.

I much prefer Alexander.
