We're really struggling with names and I'm not quite sure whether my dh is taking the piss when he makes suggestions or if he's being serious!
We don't know the sex which makes it even trickier and we seem to disagree on lots of names hence why we don't have a shortlist yet.

I like the following but dh scores them between 4-6 out of 10!

Rosa
Eleanor
Jemima
Sadie
Daisy Mae
Sorrel

Joel
Frank
Sebastian
Ossian
Joseph

So far he has suggested Crash or Tiberious for a boy so you can see what I'm up against! He also suggested Sage for a girl earlier but I've no idea whether he was taking the piss!

Any other suggestions along these kind of lines, or any preference from the above?

You have six weeks to register the birth and decide a name Wink A name might jump out at you once s/he is born.

lolalalabing · 21/09/2014 18:45

I hope so. I don't want to leave it too long to give him or her a name though, even if we do have 5 weeks!

Rosa is just gorgeous! I would use it if I could but close relative has one. it's such a beautiful name!

Sadie is nice too. Daisy Mae is terrible I think. Sage is actually quite nice.

for the boys, i'm irish so Ossian sounds like Oisin gone wrong. Sebastian and Joseph are lovely names.

you have some great choices there. if you're that stuck I think you get final say (as the one who has to be pregnant and give birth!) and he gets veto so you can pick anything so long as he doesn't hate it!

Eleanor and Rosa are nice, alomg the same lines:

Leonora
Celeste
Estella
Eden
Rowan

i like Joseph best from the boys list. How about:

Jonah
Jude
Rory
Miles
Evan

I love Jemima and Osian from your list. Although Osian is getting quite popular here in Wales. It's about 30th on the top 100 names list in Wales.

Sage and Tiberius are ace!

travelswithtea · 22/09/2014 07:04

Of course if you're going with Tiberius your surname should preferably be something simple like 'Smith', and not Huffington-Arlingdale or the like. Not everyone is a Benedict Cumberbatch Hmm

Hi OP. Your lists are good. For girls though Daisy Mae is a bit 2013 and Sorrel, well I know it's a Mumsnet favourite but it just sounds like 'sorrow' to me and that's just sad! Rosa and Eleanor are the best from the list!

Boys names all good but I think Ossian is just a headache of a name and he would spend a lifetime pronouncing and spelling it!

Britishseamonkey · 22/09/2014 08:11

My sister is daisy. Lovely name. Daisymai is a cutesy/jokey/silly/rhymey nickname we have used within the family for years AS A JOKE - please don't make it her actually name !!!

lolalalabing · 22/09/2014 12:22

Ok, Daisy Mae is out!!

Love Eleanor and Sebastian from your list

Go and read up on Emperor Tiberius and then realise it is not a name you want to inflict on your poor DC...Grin

cherrybombxo · 22/09/2014 15:21

Sorry, I'm not a fan of any of those! Sad

Maybe you'll know when you see the baby, my parents changed their mind when they saw me and named me something that hadn't been on their list and thank god they did because their shortlist was effing hideous
