or Jasmine?

Both pretty.

I heard Jemima being mentioned in a poem (there was a little girl with a little girl ...) and actually really like it.

Jasmine is also a name that I find beautiful.

That's not helpful at all!

However I prefer the nickname Jas than Jemmy so on that basis, I'd go for Jasmine.

Puddle duck
Is the first thing that springs to mind.

VainVulva · 21/09/2014 00:52

Prefer Jemima!

Sophronia · 21/09/2014 01:15

I prefer Jemima, although Jasmine is nice. I also like Jasmina.

Kantha · 21/09/2014 06:56

Jemima, nn Mima is a nice option.

If you search MN for previous ' Jemima' threads you will find some people expressing concerns about the 'Aunt Jemima' brand in the USA. It's a bit of a taboo name over there as it has racist connotations. It would only worry me if I had very strong links with the States though.

Bowlersarm · 21/09/2014 07:04

Jemima, by a long way.

Shockers · 21/09/2014 07:06

Jemima!

pilates · 21/09/2014 09:06

Both nice, but prefer Jemima with nickname Jem.

Anotheronesoon · 21/09/2014 09:11

Love love love Jemina but not so keen on jasmin

scarletforya · 21/09/2014 09:13

Pretty.

CotedePablo · 21/09/2014 15:40

No strong links with the US, so no worries about connotations there. Love Jemima myself, but don't like Jem or Jemma.

I really like it and have taught several.

I've never heard of Aunt Jemima but have never heard anyone suggest that it could be a racist name so I think you're fine over here.

toobreathless · 22/09/2014 17:14

Love both but Jemima has the edge for me.

sticklebrickstickle · 22/09/2014 17:22

I'm never sure about Jemima. Part of me really likes it and I considered it for my DD but there was something holding me back. Not quite sure what though so not really very helpful.

I really like Jasmine.

Montsti · 22/09/2014 19:18

I really like Jemima. Don't like Jasmine at all.

justjodie92 · 22/09/2014 19:19

I prefer Jasmine

Anjou · 22/09/2014 21:57

They're both beautiful and both have a lot of lovely nn's. Jem, Mima, Mimi or Jas, Mina & Minnie? I'd wait until you meet her and see what fits best. Smile
