What do you ladies think of Roberta? Bobbie for short maybe?

I keep coming back to this name for some reason, I am really drawn to it.

Thank you x

I absolutely love it, think it's a really strong, classy name.

squoosh · 14/09/2014 23:16

I had a boss called Roberta, she was an evil, big haired despot so it's a 'no' from me.

I'm not really a fan of men's names with an 'a' tacked on the end anyway. Not that Roberta is as bad as Nigella or Thomasina.

Sophronia · 15/09/2014 00:55

I really like it and would love to see it used.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 15/09/2014 00:59

Awful and harsh, sorry. Nothing cute or little girly about it. Although Bobbi which is lovely

gamescompendium · 15/09/2014 01:07

Love it, makes me think of The Railway Children.

itsbetterthanabox · 15/09/2014 01:13

I like it

itsbetterthanabox · 15/09/2014 01:15

I think it's good that there's nothing cute or little girly about it. A person is a little girl for a tiny amount of their lives you should be naming the woman not the baby. Giving girls baby, cutesy names does them a disservice.

squeak2392 · 15/09/2014 02:55

I love it :) And Bobby is such a cute nn :)

I asked about Roberta a while ago and most people said it sounded like I wanted a boy... but I honestly prefer some of these names to their more common male counterparts :P

WaffleWiffle · 15/09/2014 03:07

I know a Roberta who's nn is Bobsy.

Personally I prefer Robyn to Roberta.

Snapespotions · 15/09/2014 03:59

I don't like it. I wouldn't want anything cute and girlie either, but there are plenty of strong female names. With a name like Roberta, I'm afraid I would assume that you had really wanted a boy.

I knew sisters growing up called Paula and Roberta. I always pitied them as I assumed that their parents hadn't wanted girls!

Britishseamonkey · 15/09/2014 17:05

Do it! I love it but my oh was having none of it

lornemalvo · 15/09/2014 17:08

I know a Roberta. Her nickname is Robbie which is lovely but I always think of how ugly her full name is. I just hear Bert.

Gemerama82 · 15/09/2014 20:35

Awful sorry. Very ugly name.

GilbertBlytheWouldGetIt · 15/09/2014 20:40

Yes, like it very much. Bobbie.

rallytog1 · 15/09/2014 20:41

I love it. Wish my dh felt the same!

justaweeone · 15/09/2014 20:41

I know a lovely teenager called Roberta, she doesn't shorten it .

FamiliesShareGerms · 15/09/2014 20:41

I like it too

xXjunebugXx · 15/09/2014 21:00

We don't know what we are having but have 3-4 boys names that we love so it is a case of seeing what baby looks like. I am finding girls names really hard tbh, not because I want a boy but because I don't really like super cutsie girlie names. I guess I like more uncommon names, not out there names but just a little different.
