DD due in a matter of days (in fact I have a few twinges today) and I am stuck. I like all of the names on the long list and I just can't make a choice. DH not much help either and family all have different favourites. Can't decide on a front runner. Middle name will be Joy (after grandmother) and I already have a Frederick nn Fred. So, hoping there will be a MN clear favourite

Heidi
Francesca
Luisa
Claudia
Enid/Edith
Dorothea (DH Hmm but I like)
Iris
Aphra
Alicia
Beatrice

Iris and Enid are two of my favourites! Love them both.

AugustaGloop · 14/09/2014 22:22

I would take out -
Dorothea as DH not keen
Heidi because it does not go with Frederick ( and I do not like it!)
Francesca because of the initial
Enid because I do not like it at all
Alicia because of different pronounciations

Any of the rest would be great

bakinggood · 14/09/2014 22:29

Luisa
Alicia

Sophronia · 14/09/2014 22:38

Aphra, Enid or Iris!

ZenNudist · 14/09/2014 22:52

Luisa
Dorothea
Beatrice
Iris

Love most of your list. not a fan of aphra and not big on Enid/Edith but otherwise great.

I like that Dorothea has good nicknames. Dottie/dot for cuteness and Thea for when she's older.

Iris was on my list.

LaceyLee · 14/09/2014 22:56

Iris or Alicia are lovely. Enid and aphra definitely not and I did like Beatrice til I thought of b j initials...

CarriMarie · 14/09/2014 23:01

Luisa Joy would be my favourite. Also like Iris and Alicia but don't think they go as well with middle name.

Allalonenow · 14/09/2014 23:15

Aphra is super, and I love the literary link.

Heidi very pretty and I like it a lot.

Dorothea, I also like, but don't like Dot or Dotty as nn, though Thea would be a pretty nn.

My least favourite from your list are Claudia, Enid and Iris.

squoosh · 14/09/2014 23:18

Firstly step away from Enid and Edith, they're beyond awful.

Love Francesca, Claudia and Iris.

squoosh · 14/09/2014 23:19

Heidi seems really out of place on that list I have to say.

CarryOn90 · 14/09/2014 23:43

I think Dorothea is great.

ElephantsNeverForgive · 14/09/2014 23:48

Why not just Thea, Dorothea is just an unnecessary mouthful.

Thea Joy is perfect.

ElephantsNeverForgive · 14/09/2014 23:50

Totally agree Enid, Edith are awful. DD knows an Elsie and she insists on being yet another Ellie.

TsukuruTazaki · 14/09/2014 23:53

Iris or Francesca

clary · 14/09/2014 23:57

Edith (Wharton?) or Beatrice

OutragedFromLeeds · 14/09/2014 23:59

I like Francesca, but it's too similar to Frederick, matchy names are not good imo.

Luisa, Alicia and Beatrice are all nice. Heidi is lovely. Iris is ok.

Enid and Edith are awful. I really don't like Dorothea or Claudia. Aphra sounds like an abbreviation for a government department (you could have triplets Aphra, Defra and Fema).

manicinsomniac · 15/09/2014 00:09

My favourites are Francesca and Aphra

The only ones I don't like are Enid and Luisa

I'm a bit meh about Beatrice and like all the others.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 15/09/2014 00:18

Like Heidi, Luisa, Francesca, Beatrice Alicia and Claudia.
Dislike. Dorethea, (Dotty very cute though) Iris, Enid, Edith, Aphra

elQuintoConyo · 15/09/2014 00:21

Iris.

Closely followed by Aphra.

All the others suck, imvho. And I really don't understand why anyone would choose a lovely name, such as Dorothea, and automatically shorten it to something godawful like Thea or Dotty or Doro or Roth or such wank.

Mandyandme · 15/09/2014 00:32

Why not have them all. Ds and dd are going to murder me when exams come because I couldn't make up my mind either. They have 4 names each. With a 12 letter surname.

HerRoyalNotness · 15/09/2014 01:04

I love Heidi, and also like Claudia and Francesca from your list

squeak2392 · 15/09/2014 03:29

(Haven't read the replies)

Hmm, the only ones I don't like are Enid and Aphra. I'm not sure how I feel about Iris.
I like Francesca and Beatrice as they're classic, although unfortunately I can't bring myself to use them myself. (Also, don't think Fred and Fran is a good idea.)
I like Dorothea, but my OH read your post and went on a rather vehement rant about flowery names :P Dorothy's nice too :)
Alicia pn Alisha is a no from me, but otherwise all the other names are nice. I'm not very judgemental tonight :P

I think I like Beatrice and Dorothy the best.

squeak2392 · 15/09/2014 03:29

Camilla?

Jemimapuddleduk · 15/09/2014 04:50

Iris Joy but i am biased as i have one myself! Gorgeous

Hakluyt · 15/09/2014 07:10

As a side note- when did Alicia become anything but Alice-eea? When did the Allesha pronunciation happen?
