What do you think of the name Hope?

I'm looking for something quirky, does Hope fit this brief or is it a bit of a meh name?

This is our clomid baby after yrs ttc so I thought Hope may be apt!

Beautiful name.
And wonderfully apprpropriate.

NotTheKitchenAgainPlease · 14/09/2014 20:08

Lovely name Smile

Stars66 · 14/09/2014 20:16

Hope is good! I just feel the need to say it with Fizz from Corries voice Wink

CordeliaClementine · 14/09/2014 21:16

Oh is there a Hope in Corrie (don't watch it) ?

I think it's quirky without being crazy. I just hope it's not going to get super popular if its in Corrie.

It's to go with ds Eli btw. I think Eli and Hope go well Grin

Dh thinks Hope is weird Confused don't know why, guess its because its a word name.

I like the name Hope but i dont think its quirky.

PrettyLittleMitty · 15/09/2014 08:53

Hope is a nice name but I don't think its quirky either. I think it is a fairly ordinary name these days. Still nice though.

harryhausen · 15/09/2014 09:52

Hope is a beautiful name. It's not 'out there' unusual but I personally don't know any in RL.

My dd9 goes to school with a Liberty which I love. When I was pg my (staunchly atheist) dh went a bit nuts for a while and wanted 'Heaven' as a name. Luckily he saw the lightGrin

Hope is lovely - very apt for your story.

loudarts · 15/09/2014 09:55

Hope is beautiful.

CordeliaClementine · 15/09/2014 13:23

Hmm I wanted something quirky or at least not common, it's not common as its around 130 ish on the stats. Interesting to hear a few of you saying not quirky but lovely at the same time.

I'm confused!

I like the name Hope but I'm not a big fan of giving your kids a name that's about the parents iyswim? Like dd was conceived in NEw York and for a while we considered a name that was connected to that, but then we realised we were naming her about our adventure (and our sex life Smile) which might stop her feeling like her own person.

Legionofboom · 15/09/2014 13:33

Hope is a beautiful name and does go well with Eli but it's not ideal if your DH thinks it's weird.

tabulahrasa · 15/09/2014 13:33

I like Hope, I don't think it's quirky...it's common enough that everyone recognises it as a name but not so common that you meet loads of them, and it's a nice name.

Mamami · 15/09/2014 22:41

Love, love, love it! It's not 'off the wall' but don't think you'll be contending with too many others in the playground.

Gemerama82 · 16/09/2014 15:22

Hope is lovely and much nicer than Mabel as per your other thread. Go with hope!

Leeds2 · 16/09/2014 15:42

I think Hope is lovely.

ShadowStar · 16/09/2014 15:46

I really love Hope. A beautiful name with a lovely meaning. I wouldn't class it as quirky though.

I wanted Hope on our girl's name shortlist but DH said it was a word and not a name Hmm

EvenBetter · 16/09/2014 17:37

It's not quirky, but do you like the pronunciation? A lot of English accents would say it with a rise in the middle, kind of giving it three syllables like Ho-oh-ope, and where I live it would be pronounced harsh and fast. To me it doesn't really have a discernible letter in it when said, it's kind of a noise, like Seth.

LucyStafford · 16/09/2014 17:38

Beautiful.

littlemonster · 16/09/2014 17:52

Really lovely.

RedToothBrush · 16/09/2014 18:05

Hope is lovely AND its meaningful to you.

ticks two boxes for me.

Bellyrub1980 · 16/09/2014 19:30

The couple on 'In the Club' called their twin daughter Hope because she had to go to NICU (she pulled through!), I hadn't really thought of it as a name until then. But I think it's pretty and appropriate given your circumstances.

Also works well as a middle name.

ataposaurus · 16/09/2014 20:26

I like it, it is my daughter's middle name and a family name - I would have had it as a first name but partner thought it too 'weird'. I think it is a little different, and don't know any children with it as a first name. Not sure what people's definition of 'quirky' is!

DramaAlpaca · 17/09/2014 21:52

I love it.
