Karin/Karen and other 'K' names?

PrettyLittleMitty · 13/09/2014 11:21

We are due our second dd in 2 weeks and still haven't got a name.

We agree that we want to use a 'K/C' name as they sound nice with our rather unusual surname.

I like Karin (ka-rin) dh prefers Karen (ka-ren), dd1 has named the baby Carrie (which makes me think of the film of the same name!).

Opinions and suggestions needed, thank you.

Callie?

I can't believe no-one so far has suggested

Kim
Kourtney
Khloe
Kendal
Kylie

Or even all of them Wink
Grin Grin Grin

Seriously though OP I think Karen and Carrie are both lovely but I would choose Carrie as it sounds prettier to me.

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 15/09/2014 09:36

you can use Carrie for a nickname for Karen/in.

Other K/C names I like are Carys, Connie, Ceri.

HopefulHamster · 15/09/2014 09:58

I like Kara.

Thanks for all the input. Carrie now looks like the front runner for us, only thing bothering me is will people also shorten it to Caz? I think that is what has swayed us away from Karen, people keep saying she'll be called Kaz, which we're not keen on. Anyone know? Thanks

Katrin? Katrina?

Jumblebee · 17/09/2014 21:51

I know a Kyrinn which I think is quite nice, I'd never heard it before and I always forgot her name at first Hmm but I still think it's lovely Smile

This thread has made me smile :-) In my experience most people shorten it to Ka. Although my best friend calls me Kaz, and an ex-colleague used to call me Kazakhstan!

Alby16 · 25/09/2014 14:39

I also like the K/C names.... Although only 10 weeks and obviously NOT thinking of names I like...

Kiera or Ciara (both pronounced key-raa)

And Kayrah (which I think I made up) xx

Italianbride · 25/09/2014 14:57

I'm a Karen born in the late 70's and have never been called Kaz! Neither is my husband called Paul!

The OP may already have had her dd by now, but just in case I'd like to throw Kateena into the mix. It is an Australian aboriginal name meaning 'daughter'. Which seems quite lovely. Not Australian myself, but Aussie friend has a dc named kateena.
