Need a middle name for Rosalyn...

I'm in my third trimester, we know we're having a girl and have decided on Rosalyn as a first name (probably nn Rosie most of the time).
We want a middle name that will be a bit shorter and more 'solid' sounding... kinda to balance the girlyness of Rosalyn. I thought maybe Harriet but it doesn't seem quite right.
I love the sound of Rosalyn Anna but surname starts with T and we can't call her RAT!
So, any ideas? Please help!

It's a lovely name, but I would automatically spell Rosaline if I heard. Have you considered that spelling?

Rosaline Theodora
Rosaline Margot
Rosaline Zara
Rosaline Penelope
Rosaline Aria
Rosaline Eadie

Artandco · 11/09/2014 13:47

Oh and I wouldn't worry about RAT, it's fine tbh. Or add x2 middle names

Rosaline Theodora Anna Surname

Rosalyn Elizabeth, Rosalyn Olivia...

cherrybombxo · 11/09/2014 13:48

Although then she'd be ROT Grin

Thurlow · 11/09/2014 13:51

Rosalyn Marie
Rosalyn Eliza

DontDrinkAndFacebook · 11/09/2014 13:52

Rosalyn Penelope sounds lovely

Theas18 · 11/09/2014 13:54

Rosalyn is a great name and to me not overly girly.

Only use Rosaline if that's the spelling you want. To me that's " more girly" and I'd say was said " rose a line" where are Rosalyn would be roz a lyn ( like Rosalind but without the d)

PomeralLights · 11/09/2014 14:03

Yes, I do like the spelling Rosalyn, although I feel like a huge hypocrite because I hate my conventional-name-spelled-a-different-way Blush but like Theas said we are going to pronounce it Roz-a-lyn not Rose-a-line, plus we thought it's quite an unusual name so maybe having to explain the spelling wouldn't be so weird?
Haha like Olivia too but can't be doing with ROT. We know a few people who've had their initials made much of at school so think there is a risk others would pick up on it round here if she was RAT or ROT!
Elizabeth and Penelope seem quite long? As the first name is three syllables? We were hoping for something a bit more short and discrete....
I realise I am being very difficult Blush

Lucy?

It fits your criteria of short and solid sounding.

steppemum · 11/09/2014 14:14

I love Rosalyn, spelt with the y.

CatsCantTwerk · 11/09/2014 14:16

Jade?

nemno · 11/09/2014 14:17

I immediately thought Mary, or maybe Jane. Plain but hardly common now

PomeralLights · 11/09/2014 14:22

Oooh Jane is lovely. Also Jade is nice. Mary always sounds a bit religious to me! But agree it does fit too. Lucy is too common in my family and I don't want any of them thinking she's named after them Smile

Ah I assumed 'rose- a -line ' pronouncitation due to Rosie nickname. Short names:

Rosalyn Nell
Rosalyn Thea
Rosalyn Seren
Rosalyn Leah
Rosalyn Tara
Rosalyn Elin

MonstrousPippin · 11/09/2014 14:33

Mary works really well. I know from personal experience Wink

JustAShopGirl · 11/09/2014 14:38

Have you considered not having a middle name? They are not compulsory and I think Rosalyn stands well on its own.

M2bClaire3003 · 11/09/2014 15:17

Mae?

HumblePieMonster · 11/09/2014 15:20

Rosalyn Charlotte.

MrsSchadenfreude · 11/09/2014 15:23

Rosalyn Kate.
Rosalyn Jane.
Rosalyn Clair

pilates · 11/09/2014 16:27

Rosalyn Clara

PickledSprout · 11/09/2014 22:03

I know a Rosalind (similar) Elizabeth.

Blondieminx · 11/09/2014 22:10

I knew a Rosalyn when I was at primary school. Beautiful name. I prefer that spelling, it's less "flowery" somehow. How about:

Rosalyn Iris
Rosalyn Kate
Rosalyn Ceris
Rosalyn Eve
Rosalyn Cara
Rosalyn Alice

???

BellaVida · 11/09/2014 22:15

Rosalyn Grace
Rosalyn Mary
Rosalyn Ruth
Rosalyn Lorraine
Rosalyn Faith

PomeralLights · 12/09/2014 06:02

Thank you everyone for your help! Sorry I didn't respond last night. I think Rosalyn Jane T is still my fav from all the suggestions. Will see what DH thinks Smile thanks again
