Would you use this name?

We are TTC so this is all theoretical anyway!

My DH and I have liked a certain girls name for years, long before we started TTC. It is a fairly popular name. Last year my cousin had a baby and used the name for her. We are not close to my cousin, maybe see them once every few years, just keep in touch via facebook/Christmas cards. They live in a different city.

Would you use the name?

If you really love it then I would use it. It's not like you're close to them and if it's a popular name they probably won't think too much of it.

Sophronia · 31/08/2014 22:13

I'd still use it.

BirdhouseInYourSoul · 31/08/2014 22:14

Yeah I'd use it.

If you hardly see them then why not?

Leeds2 · 31/08/2014 22:15

Use the name if you like it.

crazylady321 · 31/08/2014 23:07

yes if not close

devoncreamtea · 01/09/2014 11:57

yep use it - it is sooo hard to find the right name!

Choccyhobnob · 01/09/2014 12:26

Yes I'd use it, my half sister from my dad's first marriage gave her daughter the exact same name as my sister and my uncle (who we see every 5-10 years and lives in another country) gave his daughter the same name too so I have a niece, sister and cousin with the exact same first, second and last name.

It's a bit weird when you think about it but as I don't think they have ever been in the same room together it's never really been that much of an issue...

PizzaLegs23 · 01/09/2014 14:44

No

fairyteepee · 01/09/2014 17:13

I wouldnt personally

AberdeenAngusina · 01/09/2014 17:57

Yes, I'd use it. If it's fairly popular, and not unique to them, why not?

Orangeisthenewbanana · 01/09/2014 17:57

If you rarely see them and aren't particularly close then I think it would probably be ok. Especially if it's a very popular name and you've always liked it.

HollyBen · 01/09/2014 18:30

I would use it

squeak2392 · 08/09/2014 02:42

Nah, I'd use it if I loved it. I'm in the same situation with my cousins. My nan might be a bit annoyed, but so what? :p
One of my (actual) cousin's names is in my top 5 and I would seriously consider using it if I miraculously gave birth tomorrow, if that's of any comfort to you :p

I'm sure when one of my cousin's was born her name was the same as my then 1yo niece (although it seems to have changed at some point since...) and nobody batted an eyelid. Just "Oh, look E, Uncle S's baby has the same as you!" Which little E loved.

NadiaWadia · 08/09/2014 20:18

The children would only be second cousins, and I don't really think there is a problem, especially if you don't see them very often. Go for it!
