Hello - first post here, I feel nervous haha!

Pregnant with first DC - had a dream (I knowBlush) about a red headed boy with the name Roan?! Confused
Mentioned it to DH this morning - not as a suggestion, more along the lines of 'weird dream' conversation - he is considering it as a name.. says it sounds like a nice name to use.. I on the other hand cannot possibly believe it is an actual name?!

Is it? I can't use it for DC, can I..?
I think I know the answer to this next question but-- what would you think if you heard a child with this name?

I am a woman with Rowan as a middle name.

Mostly people think I have a boys name though.

Ron is Scottish Gaelic for seal, also. Ronan= little seal (Rohnn, Rohnan - not ROW)

Roan is based on a Germanic word meaning Raven.

Rowan is from the tree, or from an Irish surname, pronounced Roo-awhn

Ruadh is Scottish Gaelic for Red, and is pronounced approx 'Roy' (as in Rob Roy - Scotland's Robin Hood)

In my first pregnancy, I had a dream I gave birth to a dark-haired boy called Lukas. When DC1 was born, she was blonde and a girl. Just saying. ;)

I know one boy called Rowan but seven girls. So I see it as a girls name, it's a pretty little flowering tree.

Sharon Stone has a son called Roan. That's the only time I've heard the name.

Only1scoop · 28/08/2014 22:18

It's a horsey colour ....

BigfootFiles · 28/08/2014 22:41

Roan Stone? Hmm

squoosh · 28/08/2014 22:42

Well, he won't gather any moss.

BigfootFiles · 28/08/2014 22:46

He did have a red-headed phase though...

Jbck · 29/08/2014 15:22

I know two Roans both boys, both pronounced row ann. Quite like it and if he was redheaded very apt.

Roan is a lovely Celtic name. I know of a couple of boys called Roan, here in Scotland.
