Bea short for? Not Beatrice or Beatrix...

I met a lovely lady called Bea, this made me like this name but I am not keen on Beatrice or Beatrix and I don't know of any other longer names that can be shortened to this?

Any ideas?

Beata?

When you say Bea, do you mean Baya, Beeya or Bee?
Any name beginning with B can be Bee.

DrRanjLovesPoo · 18/08/2014 17:40

Any names beginning with B I suppose.

Belinda?

UriGeller · 18/08/2014 17:45

Habiba can be Biba or Be/Bee/Bea

Hebe could be Be/Bee/Bea

(2 of my favourite names!)

Also I guess Honey could have nn Bee. That's quite sweet Grin

Sophronia · 18/08/2014 17:46

Phoebe "Bea"?

MsCoconut · 18/08/2014 17:51

Bella, Bianca, Bethany?

WaffleWiffle · 18/08/2014 17:57

Surely it can be for any name that starts with a B.

I know a Helen known as "H", likewise a Harvey. So any name beginning with B could be known as "B" (spelt Bea)

florascotia · 18/08/2014 17:58

Beate/Beata is lovely - it mean 'blessed'.

Not at all the same as Beatrice (which I also really like) but is probably derived from the Latin for 'traveller'

Elletorrito · 18/08/2014 18:00

Beatriz. It's the spanish version and is normally shortened to bea

hlc123 · 18/08/2014 18:44

Beatty

Lunastarfish · 18/08/2014 18:46

Surely it's Beyonce?!

singersgirl · 18/08/2014 19:13

The B I know is short for Bridget.

Medibeagle · 18/08/2014 19:42

Artandco · 18/08/2014 20:00

Beata is pronounced 'bay -ah- ta'

burgatroyd · 18/08/2014 20:01

Ahhh... Beats is Bay ah ta. Sounds nice but you know she's going to get called Beater.

PurpleWithaMysteryBun · 18/08/2014 20:13

Oh I like Beata! Hebe I like but already have a dc with that initial. And DH is a nightmare. Thank you for the suggestions 36weeks now and we have no names for dc 3!

ContinentalKat · 18/08/2014 20:18

Rabea, Tabea, Jakobea, Melibea?

Scarletbanner · 18/08/2014 20:24

I know a Sabine (pr Sabina) who goes by Bee.

Solasum · 18/08/2014 20:30

Elizabeth

florascotia · 18/08/2014 20:40

Purple Here is a clip with a continental (Portuguse) pronounciation of Beata. It's similar in many other countries.

Nothing like Beater, really. I think it's very nice. Almost any name CAN be a cause of mockery, but that's more to do with the children doing the bullying than the name itself.

PurpleWithaMysteryBun · 18/08/2014 21:16

Thank you Flora, I have heard tht before, I think it might sound a bit mc for us though? Michelle! Would never have thought of that Wink

Tabea, is quite nice. Why is this so hard?

Gender unknown for this baby, I am hoping they will pop out with their written down somewhere!
