Rex, Ray, Reggie, Gerry and Vincent

Some early mulling over possible names for next year's arrival and I like all of these:

Rex, Ray, Reggie, Gerry, Vincent.

We almost called our son Vincent but that was pipped by George (now ubiquitous!) so it's still a strong contender. I really want something a little different but not weird or different for the sake of it, or too cutesy.

Opinions?

love Ray and Vincent!

BumpNGrind · 11/08/2014 15:29

I absolutely adore Rex, however it's been vetoed by DH. I know an older Rex and he's a really nice guy, bright, hard working and was clearly a bit of a rocker in his day.

Sophronia · 11/08/2014 15:35

I like Ray (prefer as a nn for Raymond), Gerry (prefer as a nn for Gerard) and Vincent the best.

UriGeller · 11/08/2014 15:35

Haha. They're all pretty awful names, even if you're trying to be ironic and vintage.

They aren't really "different" either. Go down any local pub and the real ale drinking old farts will all have names like that.

The only one I like is Rex.

I did go to school with an absolutely gorgeous Ray but I think it was the fact he was gorgeous that saw him pull it off.

DitzyDonkey · 11/08/2014 16:40

Rex is such a brilliant name. Vincent would be my next choice.

weegiemum · 11/08/2014 16:42

I really dont like any of them. The only Rex i ever met was a ntotal sleaze!

Allalonenow · 11/08/2014 16:42

Vincent, Rex and Reggie are all fab.

MorphineDreams · 11/08/2014 16:44

I don't like any of them except perhaps Gerry. I know a woman who has a kid called Vincent and it just sounds so pompous no matter what she says 'Vincent got some new shoes today'

chockbic · 11/08/2014 16:47

Is it a line up for Krays:The Musical?

Rex is OK though.

Legionofboom · 11/08/2014 16:54

Is it a line up for Krays:The Musical? Grin

This is pretty much what I was thinking.

Also agree Rex is OK.

Delta987 · 11/08/2014 16:54

Ha! No musical line up and not trying to 'be' anything(vintage or otherwise)

I've always liked Vincent since a distant cousin was given the name; Raybecause I love the little kid in Jerry Maguire; Gerry as it's the name of Someone in my favourite band and Gerard Butler hasn't hurt my opinion either; Rex I just like for no particular reason and Reggie I'm just sort of testing out but don't love it.

I love the name Vincent! I nearly chose it but had wrong sex!

ShovettyMcShovetty · 11/08/2014 17:23

Love Vincent! Really don't like Rex and am a bit put off that it means "King"! The others are ok.

AliciaBotty · 16/08/2014 16:22

Sounds like a boy band from the 60s.

aubreye · 16/08/2014 16:59

I love Vincent, I was considering it for if my DTs were both boy's. I've come to love it more recently, but I have four kids and it's hard to handle! Vince is a really cute nickname but it ages well.

sally1978 · 16/08/2014 17:02

Great choices. I prefer the names to be different to the top 100 baby names. Give your child a strong identity!!!!!

PisforPeter · 16/08/2014 17:05

I don't like any of those, sorry

Onesleeptillwembley · 16/08/2014 17:06

Sounds like a gangland get together

Bowlersarm · 16/08/2014 17:08

The only one I like is Rex.

birdofthenorth · 16/08/2014 22:50

Rex is fab and I think a baby Gerry would be a very cool name for this generation

Cheeky76890 · 17/08/2014 10:09

Rex and Reggie are gorgeous!! Also adore Sid, kit, frankie,

Lannypanny123 · 17/08/2014 10:14

MyNameIsSuz · 17/08/2014 10:21

I love Vincent! Already have a Franklin and think Vinnie is top of the list for the next one.
