Which name for baby girl?

summerberries · 10/08/2014 21:10

Please could I have some opinions on my short list for a baby girl?
We are struggling to choose the final one.

We have:

Juliet
Rosa
Allegra
Genevieve (?maybe a bit too princessy)

on the shortlist.

Any comments/ favourite/ worst name would be helpful.

I love Genevieve. Pronounced the English way I assume?

Buttercup27 · 10/08/2014 21:12

Sorry but how do you pronounce Allegra?

Rivercam · 10/08/2014 21:17

Allegra reminds me of a car. Love the other names.

Alternatives:
Rosalind,
Rosemary
Julia

MyNameIsSuz · 10/08/2014 21:23

I love Allegra!!!

HalfPintPickle · 10/08/2014 21:25

I love Rosa. Not too keen on the others I'm afraid.

summerberries · 10/08/2014 21:25

rivercam-I love those other names too but prefer the ones on my list just a shade.

Not keen on Allegra, but love the others.

Treesandbees · 10/08/2014 21:29

I only like Rosa. Isn't Allegra a pizza in Pizza Express??

Nocturne123 · 10/08/2014 21:31

Juliet is beautiful

ralinax294 · 10/08/2014 23:45

Love Juliet and Rosa (probably slightly prefer Juliet), not too keen on Allegra or Genevieve.

freyaW2014 · 10/08/2014 23:46

I'm Genevieve and I say Genevieve! I'm not a princess though! Lol x

RainbowB7 · 10/08/2014 23:51

Juliet is lovely. The others are nice enough but Juliet's the best on the list by miles.

Allalonenow · 11/08/2014 00:00

I very much like Juliet Genevieve and Allegra and it's difficult to pick a favourite as they are all lovely.

I'm not too keen on Rosa as it seems a bit bland, but how about Rosamund or Rosalind?

DramaAlpaca · 11/08/2014 00:03

Love Juliet, and Rosa & Genevieve are nice too.

Allegra sounds a bit harsh to my ears.

AlpacaYourThings · 11/08/2014 00:04

Allegra is much nicer than the other names.

Hakluyt · 11/08/2014 00:12

You're going to have a nightmare if you pronounce Allegra Al aye gra- because everyone will say Al eg- ra. Honest.

Choose one of the others.

cautiouslyoptimistic · 11/08/2014 00:16

Juliet

Theas18 · 11/08/2014 00:19

austin allegra is that ?

yes i know it isn't but that's what people will think...

You have some lovely names, don't pick that one!

Marcipex · 11/08/2014 00:21

Juliet and Rosa are both lovely. Genevieve as a middle name?

Alisvolatpropiis · 11/08/2014 00:27

Genevieve is lovely.

Genevieve or Juliet.
Genevieve has some great nn's, I've known 3, each used a different one: Genna, Evie, and just Jen/Gen.
Really lovely names though, any way you go.

AnythingNotEverything · 11/08/2014 02:05

TeamEdward - there was a thread here once where a number of posters we're insistent that it is pronounced Jon-vee-ev .,.

Alisvolatpropiis · 11/08/2014 02:27

I think the French pronounciation is something like -

Zhan-vee-ev.

freyaW2014 · 11/08/2014 03:24

Mine is pronounced Jen-a-veeve and I'm known as Jenny. If you call her Genevieve she will love her name as an adult (have to admit I didn't like it as a child). I have also used Eve as a nn on forums etc and do identify with Eve even though never been called that.
When I go to France hotel staff etc call me jaan-vee-erve but love that too. My brothers called me vieve weirdly but I don't mind!
It's a win win name to me x
