Isla and Stella

They are too similar aren't they? I've got one daughter already and took ages to get a name. Now another girl due? I'm worried too matchy matchy so sound like a pair of puppies.

Other names I like:
Helena (another a)
Elizabeth (cousin has though)

Any other ideas?

Both lovely names, and not too similar at all IMO!

Lagoonablue · 07/08/2014 06:33

I like Stella but the name is tainted by association with the beer now, for me! Elsa is nice though Frozen has done for that name. I like Isla.

Oh the beer. Hadn't even occurred. I had actually started with Estella but thought too great expectations but that's better than beer!!

I think they are fine, but you could have Estelle officially (and Stella unofficially) if that helps.

or maybe Ailsa.

Subhuman · 07/08/2014 12:35

I'd definitely say Stella has too much connection with the beer now (also my DW had several guinea pigs in the past with alcohol related names such as Stella, Guinness, Brandy)

LexieSinclair · 07/08/2014 12:43

Love them both - not too similar and I don't think of the beer.

myotherusernameisbetter · 07/08/2014 12:52

My OH has been a Stella drinker but I don't think of the beer at all when I hear the name. maybe if you were planning on having an Artois in the future I would steer clear :o

munchkinmaster · 07/08/2014 13:09

Ailsa was our second choice last time. An Isla and an alias would be a bit matchy matchy. Thank god I posted as would never have thought of the beer. Don't think can do it now.

I think Isla and Stella are nice together (island and stars!) don't worry about the beer, Stella is a lovely name in its own right.

BikeRunSki · 07/08/2014 20:56

My niece is Stella. The beer had been mentioned about twice in her 10 years. It's a non issue!

Guin1 · 09/08/2014 15:02

Isla and Stella do sound quite matchy because they both end in 'la'. Isla and Helena don't. If you like the 'island and star' combo, then why not go for Estelle or Celeste? (Also avoids the beer connection.)

Gingerjv · 09/08/2014 15:31

I do not like Isla( Stella is lovely!

aoife24 · 10/08/2014 13:10

I don't think they are similar either.

MrsMilton · 16/08/2014 15:52

I'm confused. Do you already have an Isla?

I don't think Stella is great. Sounds a bit sassy. Like she'd be a right bolshie madam! Oh yes, and the beer.

Umbrellasandladders · 16/08/2014 19:39

Love Stella

Sundaedelight · 17/08/2014 10:51

Love Stella but think it does clash with Isla.

Isla and Greta

Isla and Elsie

Isla and Frances

Isla and Georgia/ Georgie

lillamyy1 · 18/08/2014 00:33

I like Isla and Stella together and don't think they're too similar.

Floop · 18/08/2014 00:44

I think they are too similar. The sounds are based in the letters S, L and A.

I'd only go for a clash of two, not three.
