Can we use Alice when DH is Alastair?

We are looking at names for DC1 due in Nov, sex is a surprise. DH has recently suggested Alice which I love and it goes well with middle name and our surname.

However, I had discounted this in my earlier thoughts and not even mentioned it to DH as it is very similar in sound to his name- he is Alastair. Is it too similar to DH's name to use?

He thinks this isn't a problem, but I can't decide if it actually matters or not.

Thanks for the replies- I am wavering onto the lines that it might be ok to have on our list after many of you saying that. DH is frequently known as Mac to his friends/colleagues anyway, but is Alastair at home so we will think it over. Thanks for the opinions!

Doesn't matter. Plus most post will be for 'Mr' or 'Miss' and the few others will be around birthdays so pretty much able to tell. Or uf family will just have the first name written on. Love Alice by the way.

I think it's not a problem at all. Sounds absolutely fine

I don't think it's a problem at all.

It's fine. In days gone by this was normal. So James would have his daughter named jemima after him, Theodora and Ted etc
