Our gorgeous baby boy is here but finding it hard to decide his name. We both like Reuben but think it is accelerating into top 50. Thoughts??

Also like Michael. We also had Jacob, Joseph and Joshua on the list but he's not feeling like any of those and all pretty popular.

grateful for help, advice and inspiration...

Congratulations!!

Reuben is a lovely name - though does seem to be getting more popular if that bothers you.

Michael is ok though Im not a fan of Mickey / Mick / Mike.

Love Joseph!

Ah thank you.. Do you think Reuben or Michael will prove more popular for our babies' generation? Did love Joseph but ruled it out as don't like nn Joe!

Michael is great, it's a classic but its so underused at the moment. Reuben is just going to get more and more popular.

I have a Zachary (Zac) but if I had another son I'd be thinking of
Adam
Nat(Nathaniel)
Ray(not Raymond just Ray - like Ray of light)
Elijah
Elliot
Elie

Boys are harder to name than girls I think. you tend to get lots of very common names and some very unusual names with less in the middle.

Michael sounds a bit too plain to me. Reuben better. But neither would be my choice.

Congratulations on the birth of your DS! Thanks

Michael and Reuben are both on my shortlist - you must have awesome taste! Grin

Also love Samuel, James, Alexander, Isaac, Caleb and Dominic.

Michael is the top name on both sides of the Atlantic over last 60 yrs. If you care about that. (yes I have one). I don't like Ruben (or Joshua) at all.

Mark would be great. Won't be many of those and no nicknames to worry about. I really wanted Raymond but DH vetoed, loads of people Loathe it.

Jacob on your original list is least popular choice.

bouncingbelle · 04/08/2014 11:42

All your names are lovely! Michael is less 'trendy' right now, so although a classic will be less popular than Reuben. Love Jacob as well.

Alternatives may be..
David
James
Isaac

But I prefer Michael to any of them :)

Love Michael it's a proper mans name. It's my DS middle name after my dad and he's got a few friends called Michael too.
