Is there anything else that 'Cleo' can be a nn for apart from Cleopatra? Thanks!

Cleophee

SublimeCorpse · 02/08/2014 14:01

Must it be a nn? Can't it just be Cleo? I think it's lovely

Sophronia · 02/08/2014 14:47

Cleona

badtime · 02/08/2014 15:07

'Cleo' and 'Clio' are both names in their own right (Clio being one of the Muses rather than a Renault).

Cliodhna -an Irish name pronounced a bit like clee-o-nah

ChickenMe · 02/08/2014 15:22

I know a Cleo-she's just Cleo and she's in her 30s. It always really suited her.

squoosh · 02/08/2014 15:29

I love Cleo on its own.

newyearnewshoes · 02/08/2014 17:22

Thank you! Yes I like it on its own but worried it sounded like a nn if you know what I mean? But good to hear people using it as a full name!

Love the name Cleo! Would use it in an instant if I could get dh to agree.

SilverLinings2014 · 04/08/2014 08:39

My friends have a Cleo, she's nearly 2 and just Cleo. Suits her perfectly.

Wigeon · 04/08/2014 08:44

It is completely fine as a name on its own right. In fact, it IS a name by itself (see muse of history).
Don't think it's like Milly/ Ellie/ Tilly where they are shortened versions of longer names. Although brace yourself for people thinking she is Chloe quite often, or saying that they / their mother/ neighbour has a cat called Cleo...

R4roger · 04/08/2014 08:47

i like Cleo

summerberries · 04/08/2014 09:48

Just Cleo is great!

peppinagiro · 04/08/2014 17:15

I know a Cleo. She's 18 months and just Cleo. Really suits her, I like it. But be warned - some people seem to really struggle with it. No matter how any times I correct her, my mum cannot manage to call her 'Cleo', but always renames her 'Chloe'. Even if I literally correct her mid sentence, she goes with Chloe again two seconds later. It drives me up the wall and it's not even my baby, so I can only imagine how her poor parents feel!
