I'm finding the whole baby naming thing tedious. Just the frustration of finding the one name for your child and the panic when you don't seem to like any and then that same panic when due date is near and still no name...

And I'm only 15 weeks so I'm gunna give up for a few months!

Anyone else fed up?

I sometimes wonder if we didn't give it enough thought. DS was a non negotiable. My DS was always going to have that name. DD was a suggestion from DS, then 2. I said "I rather like that". DH said "I wouldn't have thought you would", I said "we'll I do", DH said "done". And that was that.

Still think they are marvellous names!!

I just find I'm very picky with names, and names I didn't like before I now love. I find myself just saying yes to names so we can stop talking about it! Grin

I might just let the kids pick this time round!

Names were the reason we found out the sex. I couldn't take the bickering twice. Knowing the gender cut the frustration down by half.

Yes!! We got a boys name by week 8, one of the first suggestions, and we both loved it immediately. Girls name on the other hand is a constant worry. I've given up now and will ask to know the sex just to make sure we get this sorted! I hope for ease and peace of mind, baby is a boy, because I doubt we will ever agree on a girls name! Sad

I know how you're feeling. I've only got 4 weeks left and we are still trying to find the right name, I'm actually sick of talking about it now. Before I was pregnant I had loads of names!!

MultipleMama · 29/07/2014 22:28

We have a boy's name picked out FINALLY. It'll either be;

Ilya Louvel or Ilya Konstantin.

But girl's name, I am stumped. I got annoyed this morning and ripped up the baby name list we had and started crying, DH just started at me said, "okay... so names?" and I cried harder!

Sometimes the name you pick before you meet your child just doesn't fit when you finally get to hold her / him and you need to re-think anyway. Why not just wait and see?

MultipleMama · 29/07/2014 23:45

Wee like to have names picked out because I hate referring to the baby as it, or baby, or him/her/they. I like to bond and to us naming helps. For us, anyway. Our previous DC's names where chosen before they were born and still have those names.

I'm not one of those people who can be patient enough to wait and see, I like to have some options available. I'd feel rushed and more frustrated if baby was born and a name didn't "come to us".

I love the name Ilya (reminds me of Illya Kuryakin and therefore Duckie).

Are you after suggestions for girls name? Would you want an Eastern European one?

It's a bit high risk asking your DC to choose, unless it's from a pre-selected short list!

MultipleMama · 30/07/2014 00:34

I love Ilya too, I'm slightly concerned about how people will pronounce it but luckily I think we live somewhere where names aren't easily mispronounced.

I'd love a Russian first name but there's none that I really love, so anything Eastern European would be a plus, so I'm open to any suggestions as we're wanting mns too :)

I don't think we'd realistically let the DC choose, they're a bit young and my son has already decided to nn the baby Soyuz... Hmm Grin
