Annabel Florence
Isabella Florence
Olivia Florence

(Or, poss Beatrice instead for the MN). Concerns are:-

Isabella - is it a bit too long, flowery and "try-hard";
Olivia - is it too similar to Sophia and therefore a bit of a twee sib-set?
Annabel - doesn't have the same gravitas as the other traditional names? i.e could you imagine a High Court Judge called Annabel?

I suppose what I want is a name that would not look out of place amongst the Telegraph birth announcements haha!

Thanks in advance for opinions.

Yes, Annabel is the traditional British spelling.

We went for Annabelle as there is a French connection to her name in our families.

We also prefer the look of the name spelt 'lle' plus if you plan to call her Belle, it arguably works better.

It's a matter of personal taste of course but I certainly wouldn't dismiss other spellings of the same name as improper- that's quite rude to be honest!

Good luck and do let us know what you decide.

Olivia Florence sounds amazingly beautiful! I love both names a lot!

Thanks for all your replies. I think we are pretty much decided on Annabel Florence.

Yorkshire Lass - no rudeness intended. What I meant was the "proper" English traditional spelling, not that the French version was improper. I like both but as we are British with no connections to France any longer then I think Annabel is more fitting for us.

Thanks again for everyone's input! Really appreciated.

Glad you like Annabel Florence best it's gorgeous! We have an Anna, really liked Sophia too but sounds odd with our surname

Hi Blackberry, Anna is my DH's favourite girls' name! But we compromised on Annabel. I vetoed it as I knew an Anna that I didn't like very much! A bit silly of me really as it's such a lovely name. Does your Anna have a middle name?

Was also going to say Annabel. One of the names I wanted to be called when I was small. Classic name.

Your names are gorgeous, but the first name that popped into my head when I saw 'sister of Sophia Alice' was Evelyn Florence. I have no idea why, or if it's up your street but I thought I'd throw it out there just in case.

I have an Anna, middle name Violet (after my Granny)
