Baby names. What do we think?

I'm due to have a baby in 4 weeks. We don't know what we are having, I'm really stuck on boys names my DH loves Albert (Albie/Bertie)
I can't decide, I love it for a baby, but not sure it suits a teenager? Any Alberts out there?

I don't know any, but it is usually hard to imagine any name you choose on your child as different ages, by the time your baby grows up, he will likely be in a class with boys called Stanley, Alfie, Billy, Eric etc so it wont seem unusual to his friends.

It has been my experience that children just grow up with children with names that us adults think are "different " but they don't notice at all.

My boys went to a school with two very distinct social groups - the catchment covered a rough council estate and a new build "executive" housing estate - and not much in between. That gave rise to a very unusual mix of names at the ends of the spectrum. My eldest sat at a table with Piers, Isabella, Demi, Sidney (girl) and Kayden. And before anyone decides that I am looking down my nose, I grew up in an estate probably rougher than the one I am talking about and my son had a name that was probably in the middle of that lot.

I know a baby Bertie. Not helpful! Would your OH be willing to pretend he is_Bertie when introducing himself to strangers or ordering coffee at Starbucks? If he likes wearing it then why not?

I like it! Didn't like it until you put Albie/ Bertie - love those!

I know 2 baby Alberts, or albie and bert, good NNs and a solid name for the future, go for it!

I really like Bertie. Not so keen on Albie or Albert though..

I know a gorgeous toddler Albert who goes by Bertie, and I went to school with a Robert who was known as Bertie too - both perfectly suited for their ages so I'd say it would be fine for a teenager

I think both Bert and Alb work fine for a teenager. From my experience at school all the boys who at primary were benji / Richie magically became Ben / rich at secondary, so could happen 'organically' anyway!

Albert / Bert / Bertie / albie / alb are all great!

It's old sounding but nicknames are always used!

I love the name but I would always be worried about ppl teasing.

Albert is a nice name. and i always think about mature, adult man when i hear this name.

I know an Albert, he is one very cool little boy (aged 4)!
He is never called anything other than Albert.

I know an Albert who is in his 30's now.

He's never had problems and Albert suited him as a teenager and now a man.
