Sorry me again - everyone has been so helpful in my other thread.

I have fallen in love with this name. For a boy or girl.

OH will veto it before I even get it out of my mouth but I adore it.

Is it too out there?

It's the first name - other than my cats name!! - that has got me excited.

I wouldn't use it myself but I do think it's quite nice, only on a boy though.

Chachah · 17/07/2014 13:45

I would say it's a girl's name, actually!

I think it's a cool name :)

Lucked · 17/07/2014 13:51

I think Ethan hawkes daughter is Indiana. I agree it is more of a girls name with Indy being unisex. I wouldn't use it myself but it is pretty.

monkeyfacegrace · 17/07/2014 13:54

Love love love it.

Couldn't give a shit what the rest of the world thinks, if I'm lucky enough to have another baby, it'll be a little Indy!

Elfhame · 17/07/2014 13:56

Love it

Minion · 17/07/2014 13:58

YEESSSSSS Indiana, knew youd come round!

Mammanat222 · 17/07/2014 14:01

Cat can stay as Amber and baby can be Indiana - sorted!

Although OH will hate it.

We named the dog Indiana!

(But yes, do it, especially for a girl)

googoodolly · 17/07/2014 14:42

I went to school with a girl called Indiana - nn Indie. Lovely name - go for it!

nyldn · 17/07/2014 18:42

enderwoman · 17/07/2014 18:45

If your surname is Jones then don't do it!!

I like Indiana more than the name India or Indigo. Not sure why...

Mammanat222 · 17/07/2014 19:13

Well what do you know, OH didn't hate it.

He doesn't love it but it didn't get the reaction I thought (I expected "no way in Hell

Interesting! And no surname isn't Jones!

Gingerjv · 17/07/2014 19:32

I think it's really cool name for a boy (because Indiana Jones was really cool;-)) and for girl it's very beautiful and sweet name! I like it very much!! for boy and for girl)

FloozeyLoozey · 17/07/2014 19:34

I know someone with this name and she loves it and everyone we know does!

PandaWatch · 17/07/2014 22:46

I love that you came up with Indiana by way of an Indiana Jones reference inspired by you wanting to name your DD after your cat Grin

You have no choice but to use Indiana now. I insist!

devoncreamtea · 18/07/2014 13:36

so cool!

AnAirOfHope82 · 18/07/2014 13:51

Indra
Indy
Alanna
Claudia
Elena
Nikita
Nia
Thea

Dh voted them all

squoosh · 18/07/2014 15:02

Of all the American states I don't think I'd name someone after Indiana.

JenniferJo · 18/07/2014 15:04

It's an American city. OK if you live there or have some connection but not so OK if you live in the UK, imo.

Chachah · 18/07/2014 15:44

Yes, it's a little random to call your baby after a US state (see also: Dakota), but honestly, why not.

It's not a problem for Florence, Sienna, Francis, etc!

Also will give her a reason to visit Indiana when she grows up (not that there's all that much to see there) [biggrin]

Chachah · 18/07/2014 15:45

I meant Grin. Not especially [big].

laurenamium · 18/07/2014 17:39

Excellent name Smile I have an Indie! But she's Indie on her birth certificate too. It's a marmite name but a lot of people really love it Grin

NigellasDealer · 18/07/2014 17:43

'Indie' is dreadful IMO - kind of really try hard to be cool.
why not Oklahoma or West Dakota? or Ohio?

florascotia · 18/07/2014 18:02

An Air but Indra and Nikita are MALE names ...
Really hope that you found a name you both liked.

Not keen on Indiana. Why name a baby after a territory populated by an oppressed indigenous people? On the other hand, I really like Alannah and Claudia is elegant, also.Thea sounds to me like part of a name, such as Theodora or Dorothea.

Notso · 18/07/2014 18:04

I really like Indie/Indiana and I don't usually like place names.

Why not Oklahoma or West Dakota? or Ohio?
There are two Cheyenne's and a Dakota at my son's school, not really to my taste but they stand out among all the Ellie, Caitlin, Niamh, Freya, Tomas, Jacob, Harry and Ben's.
